Burning
riwh13 asked for a oneshot of Snow being trapped in the building in "Diving into the flames". Emma saves her but is burned.
Emma could hear her father calling after her, but she wasn't turning back. Her mother was in here and she was not letting her burn to death. She was just grateful Neal was at a playdate. Emma didn't want to think about him being caught up in the flames. Coughing from the thick smoke, Emma took her jacket off and held it above her, trying to shield herself from some of the fire and smoke.
"Mom?" She called out. "Mom! Where are you?"
"Emma?" She heard her name faintly. Her head snapped in the direction she'd heard her mom speaking from. She was trapped in the hallway.
"Mom, stay there, I'm coming for you!"
"Emma just leave! I don't want you getting hurt!" But Emma didn't listen to her mom. The flames were licking at her bare arms, but adrenalin helped her ignore that. She found her mom lying in the hallway, leg blocked under a fallen chest of drawers.
"Emma, I told you to leave! The firemen are coming. You shouldn't have came in here. You could have been killed. You still might…"
"Nobody is going to die." Emma said, her throat now feeling very dry. She quickly shoved the chest of drawers off of her mom's leg and helped her up, covering them both with her jacket. "Come on, we've got to get moving…" Just then, two firemen came into sight. They saw Snow and Emma and took over the rescue from Emma. Snow's vision was so blurred from the smoke she couldn't see the state of Emma's arms. She wasn't doing so great herself. Snow was fairly sure her ankle was broken and she had her own fair share of burns too.
The firemen got Emma and Snow out of the building where Charming rushed over to them.
"You're out! I was so worried…Emma don't ever do that to me again…"
"Sir, we need you to step back. We've got an ambulance on the way. They're both going to need urgent medical attention." He explained, as the other firefighter placed a temporary oxygen mask over both of them. Charming could see burns on both of them, and could tell something was up with Snow's ankle. He would worry about their injuries when they were at the hospital. For now he was just grateful they'd both made it out alive.
