The cold shoulder

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow overhearing Emma making fun of her. Snow gives Emma the silent treatment until they have a big row about it all. When apologising doesn't seem to be enough Emma decided to do something really nice for her mom to make up for it.

Snow was still fuming two days later. She couldn't believe her own daughter had said that behind her back. She was not overly overprotective! She was simply making sure both her children were safe! Since she'd heard Emma say that she'd decided if that's what Emma thought then she wouldn't speak to her at all. She couldn't be "overly overprotective" if she wasn't even speaking to Emma. She was standing at the sink washing dishes when Emma came into the room behind her and sighed. She had felt terrible that her mom had overheard her talking to Killian but she had to tell someone before she exploded. She loved her mom dearly, but ever since the Queens of evil arrived she was guilty of treating Emma like a child. Always wanting to know where she was going and when she'd be back. Texting multiple times throughout the day to check up on her. It was driving Emma mad!

"Still giving me the silent treatment huh?" Emma asked. No response. "That's what I thought. Mom, come on. We have to talk about this. It won't get better until we do."

"Why would you want to talk to me, Emma? I'm so overprotective, quite irritating really, especially since you're not my child." Emma winced. She hadn't meant it to come out like that.

"You knew all I meant was that I am not a child. I admit it came out wrong and for that I am sorry." Snow didn't respond. She was still so hurt. All she was doing was trying to make sure Emma wasn't hurt. After all, the Queens of evil would have placed a massive target over Emma's head. Emma sighed. "I thought you might not be satisfied with that. So I made this up." Intrigued, Snow looked at Emma as she pulled a mirror out of her pocket. "This will let you see me whenever you want so that you know I'm safe without having to call. I thought it would make a good compromise. I know you're just concerned. I would be too if it was Henry I suppose." Emma held the mirror out. Snow smiled, accepting it.

"Mirror, and apology, accepted. I know you're not a child Emma. But that doesn't stop me worrying about you. Especially when some crazy ladies are out for your blood."

"In fairness I think Pongo has more right to be worried than I have." Emma joked. Snow didn't smile. "Alright, alright. No jokes. Anyway, I'm going to the station. That'll be my lunch over. I'll see you when I get home." Emma said, giving her mom a quick hug before heading out the door. Snow looked down at the mirror and smiled.

"Show me Emma." She said quietly. Instantly, the mirror lit up with Emma's image driving off in the cruiser.

"Really mom, just going to the station." She heard Emma say, Emma knew it would be the first thing her mom would do. Snow gasped and the image faded. She would check again in an hour…
