Flu

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma not feeling well and her parents making her go to Whale. They find out it's the flu and go into overprotective parent mode to take care of her.

Every time she moved her whole body ached. Even when it was just bending over to be sick in the bucket her mom had provided because whenever she ran to the bathroom she got dizzy and fell over. Seeing as she was throwing up a lot it was badly needed. After she puked for the third time in an hour, her parents decided enough was enough.

"That's it." Charming said, getting up. "We're going to the hospital. You need medicine." Emma groaned in response, she hated going to the hospital.

"No, your dad's right." Snow said, coming over and helping Emma sit up. "This can't be good for you." Emma could tell there was no point in wasting what little energy she had arguing. They were taking her whether she liked it or not.

Charming and Snow were grateful for the lack of fuss from Emma, it made it a lot easier to get her to the hospital. Charming carried her inside and set her in a wheelchair while they waited their turn in the reception. After about twenty minutes, Emma's name was called and she was whisked away into a little room where a nurse did some checks on her. She frowned after a few.

"What is it?" Snow asked, concerned. "What's wrong?"

"I think Emma's suffering from a bad case of the flu." The nurse explained. "We're going to have to keep her in, she's quite dehydrated."

"She's been throwing up a lot." Charming said, wanting to explain the dehydration. The nurse nodded in understand before setting to work putting Emma on a saline drip. Emma gasped as she felt something sharp digging into her wrist.

"What are you doing? That's hurting her!" Charming said, upset at Emma's pain.

"It's to help the dehydration. I'm sorry it's causing you discomfort Emma but a little prick in the wrist is going to be less uncomfortable than complete dehydration." The nurse said. "I'll be back in a moment. I'm just going to get the doctor to prescribe some medicine." The nurse then left and Emma's parents took a seat either side of her, each taking a hand.

She returned shortly with Whale who gave out the prescription of Emma's medicine before he left the nurse to give Emma the drugs. The nurse gave Emma what Whale ordered before leaving again to finish her rounds. Snow gently stroked Emma's forehead.

"How you feeling honey?" She asked soothingly.

"Rubbish." Emma groaned in reply. Charming rubbed circles on the back of her hand with his thumb.

"Then sleep. We'll be right here." He assured her. Emma rolled her eyes.

"I'm sure if you weren't I'd still be able to sleep." She said.

"Even so, we'll stay." Snow told her. Neither Charming or Snow wanted to leave while she was so ill, just in case. So they would sit there, taking turns to either go to the bathroom or get food. They would not leave their daughter alone again.
