Another teen parent
A guest asked for a oneshot of a teenaged Neal getting his girlfriend pregnant and talked to Emma about it.
Emma ran her hand through her hair, thinking.
"Neal." She groaned. "Why didn't you use protection?" She really wanted to ask why he was doing it at all at seventeen but didn't think she really wanted to know the answer.
"We did! It broke, ok? I don't know what we're going to do. I'm too young to be a dad, I don't know what I'm doing!" Neal panicked. Emma reached over and pulled her little brother into a hug. She'd been in his shoes, and she'd made the worst choice imaginable by giving her child away. She was going to make damn sure that Neal didn't make the same mistake.
"I won't lie to you bro, this isn't going to be easy. Your whole life, it's going to be different now. You need to step up. You'll finish school before the baby is born, that's the only small blessing. We could use an admin assistant at the station, that'll give you a job at least. You're going to have to support this baby. They'll be your responsibility too, you know that right?" Neal nodded into Emma's shoulder, beginning to cry. How could they have been so stupid? "Good. We'll get this sorted Neal. Yeah, it's not ideal at your age but that can't be changed now. What's important is that you face this head on...and that means telling mom and dad."
"I don't think I can." Neal whimpered. "They'll be so mad at me. What if they kick me out?" Emma shifted so she could look Neal in the eye.
"They're not going to be mad or kick you out. I had a baby as a teen, didn't I? They still love me, don't they?"
"Yeah, but they weren't exactly there to be mad or kick you out were they?" Neal pointed out.
"None the less, they still love me and Henry. Just like they'll still love you and this new grandchild...I'm going to be an aunt!" It had just sunk into Emma that this child would be her relative too. Neal laughed slightly.
"Congratulations." He teased. Emma gently nudged him in the ribs.
"Come on you. I'll go with you to tell mom and dad. It's what big sisters are for."
Nine months later Emma stood in the hospital room proudly smiling as her baby brother held his newborn son. The road here hadn't been easy with their parents processing the information and working things out both with Lisa- the mother- and her parents too. But none of that mattered right now. For now a baby boy had brought these two families together. And he was completely perfect.
