Brain tricks

Jade Star asked for a oneshot of Maleficent cursing Emma. It causes her to be angry and paranoid and Emma is put under house arrest for her own and others' protection. Snow watches over her.

"Are you sure you don't need to go to the bathroom?" Snow asked for the third time that watch. Emma just stopped pacing and muttering for a moment and growled at her. "Well we'll take that as a no then. Remember it's your dad who's coming to keep you company next so if you want to go you're best going now."

"Keep me prisoner more like." Emma grumbled. Maleficent had cast some sort of curse on Emma that caused her to be paranoid and full of rage. As a result, until they could reverse the spell Emma's was being kept in her bedroom with someone always there to keep her safe. As a result of the anger and paranoia, Emma was lashing out at people, so Henry and Neal had been banned from coming in.

Emma went back to her pacing and muttering. Snow couldn't make out all she was saying, but could hear something about people coming from her. They commonly heard it talking about people coming for her.

"Emma, nobody's coming to get you, we promise." Snow said, trying to reassure Emma. She didn't like that her daughter was so agitated.

"Yes they are, I know they are!" Emma barked back. "You're keeping me here so they can take me away, wash your hands of me." She added angrily. Snow came over and cupped Emma's face.

"Nobody's coming to take you. Your father and I wouldn't let them. This is all part of what Maleficent's curse..."

"There is no curse! You're making that up to make me feel crazy. I'm not crazy- I'm not." Emma stated, pulling away from Snow and going to her bed. Emma turned on her side to face the wall and pulled her knees up to her chest. Snow followed her, sitting on the edge and gently rubbing soothing circles on Emma's back.

"Nobody thinks you're crazy, honey, I promise. There is a curse. Maleficent has done this to you to try and make you leave town. She won't win, we won't let her. You just need to trust us." Emma burst into tears, so confused. Her head told her that people were coming to get her and take her away, but everyone else was saying nobody was coming. Was she just making this up? Was there really a curse? Snow muttered soothing words to her daughter, feeling like Emma's pain was flowing into her too. She couldn't stand it when either of her children were in distress, and it was even worse when she couldn't fix it. All she and Charming could do for Emma right now was wait.
