Worst walk ever

Prisky0731 asked for a oneshot of Emma breaking her ankle when she's home alone with Neal. She tries to go to the hospital whilst carrying Neal. Their parents find out and are furious.

A stupid little baby toy. Why hadn't she been watching where she was putting her feet? Emma was just grateful she hadn't been carrying Neal when she fell. Previous experience had told her that her ankle was definitely broken. Her parents were out trying to sort out the town wide blackout leaving her to watch Neal. Her mobile had run out of battery hours ago so Emma had two choices- wait until her parents came home or walk to the hospital. Giving the agony she was already in she decided it was best to head to the hospital, at least they had generators which could keep Neal warm. Now she found herself with Neal balanced on her hip dragging on leg behind her on a painful walk to the hospital. At least her childhood had some advantages- this wasn't the first time she'd had to walk around with a broken bone somewhere in her leg. The last time it was her kneecap. This was on par in a pain level- but last time she didn't have to carry a screaming four month old through the town.

"I know buddy." She said through gritted teeth. "We'll be at the hospital soon. I'm sorry I left my walkie at the station. I'm sure someone there will be able to find mommy and daddy..."

"Emma?" Emma turned to face who was calling her- her parents. She had never been so grateful yet so terrified to see them. They came over to her after getting out the truck.

"What are you both doing out here? Why are you holding your leg so awkwardly?" Her dad asked her.

"Here." Emma said, passing Neal over to her mom. "I'm on my way to the hospital. My phone's out of battery and I left my walkie at the station. I tripped over one of Neal's toys and I've broken my ankle. I need to get to the hospital." Snow and Charming were completely taken aback.

"Emma, the house is a fifteen minute walk away! You've carried Neal all the way with a broken ankle?! Are you crazy?!"

"I didn't have my choice. I couldn't wait until you came home- it was agony!" Charming could see Emma swaying. He quickly caught her and picked her up.

"Well no more walking from you. We're heading straight to the hospital. Emma, if you break your ankle during a blackout don't move. And always have your walkie on you."

"Sure sure." Emma grumbled, just grateful for the slight release on her still agonizing ankle. She could cope with lectures from her parents, at least this night was over.
