The effect of fear
A guest asked for a oneshot of Red getting upset with Snow after hearing about what happened in 4x07 because Snow wasn't afraid when she found out Red was a werewolf.
There had been something off with her best friend from the second Snow had stepped foot in the diner. Red hadn't greeted her at all, even when Snow had tried to say hi to her. Thinking it might be just because the diner was quite busy Snow took Neal over to a booth and waited for Red to come over and serve them, then she might get more details as to her moodiness. Snow was wiping some drool from Neal's chin when Red came over.
"What do you want?" She asked frostily. Snow was quite taken aback, was Red mad at her?
"Um just an orange juice and bagel please, but Red, have I upset you or something? You seem a little mad."
"I am." Red responded, not looking Snow in the eye.
"Alright then...can I ask why?" Red didn't answer Snow. "Come on Red, we're best friends. I don't like you being mad at me, and I like it even less that you won't tell me why so we can fix it."
"Fine. I'll tell you." Red said in a voice that made Snow wince slightly. "When you found out I was a wolf, you didn't waver at all. You treated me exactly the same and you have never changed from that. You find out Emma has magic and she makes just one mistake and I hear you get frightened. That's your daughter, Snow. How do I know being in this world hasn't changed you in some ways? How do I know that if you react like that to Emma you won't react badly the next time I'm a wolf?" Snow felt awful both for her actions with Emma and for making Red worry that she'd ever be frightened of her. Snow knew Red would never hurt her- wolf or not.
"Red, what happened with Emma was wrong. I just wasn't expecting it to be so extreme. I promise, it was a one off. Emma and I have spoken about what happened and she understands that I am most certainly not frightened of her or her powers. I hope you don't think I'm frightened of you." Snow covered Red's hand with her own, happy that Red didn't pull away. Red shrugged.
"I guess it was a shock, and quite a big one. So, bagel and orange juice?" Snow smiled, knowing that was Red's way of saying that things were ok between them.
"Please."
