Making the dress
piper maru duchovny asked for a oneshot of some Mama Snow and Emma fluff.
"Stay still." Snow said, trying to still Emma's tapping foot. Emma sighed impatiently.
"You know I'm sure the proper tailor in town is still available. You don't have to sow the dress all by yourself." Emma hinted. After begging for months Henry was finally getting his wish of having a proper Enchanted Forest style Ball in Storybrooke. Snow and Charming had managed to find some of their old clothes in the now run by Belle pawn shop, but of course Emma had nothing. She had said she could just wear something old of Snow's or one of her friends, but Snow point blank refused. She also insisted on sowing the dress herself, not letting the tailor do it. Snow shook her head, focusing on the delicate stitching.
"No." She said firmly. Emma rolled her eyes, her mom was so stubborn.
"But why?" Emma whined, she'd been standing on this stupid stool for three hours!"
"Because it's your first Ball gown and it's tradition in my family that the mother sows her daughter's first Ball gown. Sure, normally it's for a toddler and can be done without the daughter having to wear it at the time but I missed out on the majority of your firsts and I was not missing out on this." Snow answered her. Emma couldn't help but feel quite touched that Snow was putting in so much effort.
Emma didn't complain for the rest of the process, no matter how long it took. Snow refused to stop until she thought the dress looked completely perfect. This was her daughter's big day, and it was going to be magical for her. When Snow finally stepped back, satisfied with her work, she had tears in her eyes. This was her daughter- and she was absolutely beautiful.
"Emma." She choked. "You're- you're beautiful." She couldn't believe this was her child. Screw everyone else. She may not have raised Emma but she was still her child. And right now Snow couldn't be prouder. She was the proud mother of the most gorgeous woman in the world. Emma blushed under the praise.
"Um thanks." She muttered. "Finished then?" Snow nodded, helping Emma off the stool. She then lifted her arm up and gently got Emma to do a twirl. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"I'm having my princess do a twirl in her beautiful dress. Of course, made beautiful by her." Snow answered simply. Emma could feel tears building up in her own eyes, memories of the lonely little girl she had been flooding back. She pushed them to the side for now, those times were long gone. Now she had two amazing parents who just wanted to love her, and it was more than she ever imagined she'd get.
Sure, Snow had missed out on so much of her daughter's life. But there was nothing she could do to fix that now. All she could do was enjoy the here and now and rejoice in knowing their family was together forever, and they had so many moments ahead of them.
