Wrong target
A guest asked for a oneshot of Zelena being after Emma rather than baby Neal.
By the time the group had realised it was too late. They'd been so focused on protecting the baby that nobody saw that Zelena's real target all along had been Emma, she's just been using the baby as a red herring. She'd came into the hospital and the group took up their positions to defend the young Prince. Nobody expected her to instead grab Emma. Using Hook to take her magic hadn't been about stopping her protecting her brother- it had been about stopping her protecting herself.
"What do you mean she's gone?!" Snow yelled when she was first told the news. "Why did Zelena take Emma?"
"She was never after the baby." Charming explained. "She always wanted Emma. Her magic is already formed and much more powerful. She made us think she wanted the baby so nobody was guarding Emma." Hook was pacing the room furiously. He couldn't believe he'd been so stupid.
"Well we need to go rescue her." Snow said, beginning to get up from her hospital bed.
"Yes, Snow. Emma does need rescued, but not by you." He said firmly, carefully getting her back into bed. "You've just had a baby, you're in no state to be fighting anyone let alone powerful witches. You need to stay here. If worst comes to worst our son is going to need someone."
"And what about our daughter?" Snow said angrily. "Does she not need me too?" Charming bent down and kissed Snow's head and his new baby's. He didn't have time to argue.
"Of course Emma needs you too, but she'll need you when we get back. No buts Snow, you're not going. Hook, Regina and I will deal with this."
"Wait what?!" Henry added. "I'm coming too-"
"No." Regina, Charming and Hook said at once. Henry scowled, seeing that there was no room for fighting his corner. He stomped into the room beside his grandma and uncle sitting on the hospital chair. Both he and Snow had near identical grouchy expressions on.
"We'll bring her home." Charming assured the livid pair before he, Hook and Regina left to battle Zelena.
The small group soon found Zelena and Emma in the abandoned warehouse Zelena had been calling home. She had tied Emma to a chair, and looked to be performing some sort of painful magic on her. When the group got there she had what looked to be a deep gash in her cheek, sweat pouring from her brow. Her eyes were already red with tears. Charming felt a lion of rage roar within his chest. Nobody did that to his daughter.
"Release her, and release her now." Charming growled, brandishing his sword. Hook was standing to his left, a similar look on his face as he wielded his own sword. Zelena just laughed in their faces.
"Really? You think that a couple of swords are going to be good enough? Honestly gentlemen, I expected a better rescue party…"
"Are you finished?" Regina cut in coolly, walking into Zelena's line of vision, a fireball at the ready in her hand. "Because I've had quite enough of you for one day, sis." Zelena's gloating expression changed instantly to one of total hatred. She raised her hand to attack Regina. "Save it." Regina spat. "We both know I'm stronger than you. So why don't you just let blondie go and we'll say no more about it for now?"
"NO!" Zelena screamed trying to attack the group, but luckily Regina was too fast for them. "I will get my time portal! I will fix my life that you ruined!" Zelena's power would ultimately be her fatal flaw. One of the first things Rumpelstiltskin taught Regina was how to use an enemy's magical strength against them. So she quickly turned Zelena's magic around and blasted it at her instead. Zelena went flying back, smashing against the back wall of the warehouse, unconscious. Hook and Charming went rushing to Emma, untying her. "We don't have much time." Regina warned them. "That won't keep her for long."
"Well I guess we go with this then." Charming said, quickly picking Emma up from the chair. Emma didn't make a fuss. The whole ordeal had been terrifying for her. Still shaking, she rested her head against her dad's chest and gripped onto him for dear life.
Snow sat bolt upright in her bed when she heard the footsteps running towards her room. Henry too was waiting nervously.
"Mom!" He shouted out, relieved, as he saw Charming carry her into the room. Hook and Regina hung back outside, knowing the family would need a little time alone. Hook would check on his Swan later.
"She's alright." Charming assured his wife as he carefully placed Emma beside her own the bed. "We're having Whale brought through to check her over. Regina's already checked for any lasting magical damage and given her the good to go." Snow's heart was still thudding in her chest as she cupped Emma's face and examined the wound for herself. She would gladly wring Zelena's scrawny neck for hurting her child. But she was glad Emma seemed alright, if a little shaken.
"The baby," Was the first thing Emma said "is he ok?" Snow smiled over at her husband, sharing a silent conversation with him. Charming nodded to his wife, going over and picking up the little boy from the hospital cot.
"Emma," He said softly "meet your baby brother. Little man, this is your big sister. You're a very lucky little boy. She's the best big sister in the world." He carefully passed the baby into Emma's awaiting arms. She stared in awe at the little bundle.
"Hey there." She cooed. Charming was standing behind her, a comforting hand on her shoulder. Snow had scooted over in the bed so she was right beside Emma. Henry had gotten up from his seat and was kneeling in front of Emma and the baby. "Kid, I've only really got one thing to say…welcome to the family."
