Emmy

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow calling Emma Emmy. She likes having a special nickname from her mom.

"Emmy, could you get your brother's rattle please?" Snow asked as she kept her eyes on the task at hand of changing Neal's nappy.

"Sure." Emma said, getting up from the couch where she'd been cuddled up with Killian watching the TV. Killian blinked in surprise. That had been the third time that day he had heard Snow calling Emma "Emmy". He thought maybe Emma hadn't heard her properly the first couple of times, that maybe that was why she hadn't protested at the childlike nickname. But there could be no denying that Emma had heard her mother that time.

Later on that evening when they were alone, Killian decided to question her on it.

"So your mother…she calls you Emmy now?" He asked. Emma nodded, turning the page of her magazine. "Yet I'm prepared to bet if I called you Emmy my jaw would become very well acquainted with your fist." Emma smiled as she continued to read the article.

"You're quite right, it would." She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, it's just my mom's name for me. I know she didn't raise me, but it seems only fair she gets to give me a childish nickname. The first time she said it was by accident. She panicked thinking I was going to get mad, so she was quite surprised when I said I didn't mind. Well, as long as we weren't in public anyway." Emma explained. Killian smiled warmly. He understood. Emma missed out on her rightful childhood. It must be nice with her to reclaim any little pieces of it she could with her parents. If it was what she wanted then Killian would always support her.
