Snow and Charming walked silently side by side as they headed for their old home. It wouldn't feel much like home now. Not only because they hadn't been there for so long and the castle was in ruins, but because half their family wasn't here. Emma and Henry might never be here with them, and it broke both their hearts. Regina was walking far ahead of them, needing space. Losing Henry had hit her hard. Snow and Charming at least had each other to cope with missing their daughter and grandson together.
That's when they heard it. The screams. Snow just knew one of them was Emma. Some maternal instincts inside of her sending alarm bells ringing through her whole body.
"Emma!" Snow yelled, bolting off in the direction of the scream. Charming immediately followed after her. If Snow said that was their daughter screaming then he believed her. Another question crossing both of them- was Henry with her? Another scream. Snow and Charming ran even faster. They had to find her. The screams got louder as they got closer. Then they saw both Emma and Henry and why she was screaming. A couple of flying monkeys were trying to carry off her and Henry.
"No!" Charming yelled, pulling out his sword and charging at the creatures. They looked down when they saw the couple. The creatures were greedy. If they could fly off with four people rather than two then they would. They swooped down and reached with their sharp clawed fingers towards the royal couple. Snow pulled out her own weapon and the pair began to battle the monkeys. Careful not to hurt their family.
"Don't move!" Snow warned them. Emma and Henry obeyed, terrified. In the end Snow and Charming injured the creatures enough for them to drop Emma and Henry and fly off. Snow and Charming rushed towards them, helping them up. "Are you alright?" Snow asked, cupping her grandson's face as Charming looked Emma over for injuries. The pair nodded.
"How?" Charming asked. He was totally in shock, they both were. "How did you get here?"
"We did leave, but the car got pulled back. We don't know how. Next thing we knew we remembered everything and we were in here with weird monkeys coming at us." Emma panted. Charming pulled her into a tight embrace, cupping the back of her head like he always did.
"We thought we had lost you both." He cried. Snow and Henry joined them to create a family hug.
"We thought we had lost you too." Henry responded. Then the family just enjoyed the moment. They were together again by some miracle that was not to be questioned. It didn't matter why, it just mattered that it had happened.
