Bi

Ouatfan asked for a oneshot of Emma being bi and her parents find out after seeing an old photo. Emma tries to make an excuse as she's frightened what they'll think. They're very patient and let her know they're ok with it. Just since they knew each other as teens I've gone with Emma and her friend Lily being together, I don't think they were ever actually together or had any of that kind of chemistry I just wanted to go with an already established character. Just thought I should explain :)

"Emma, please don't cry…" Lily said tentatively, rubbing small circles on Emma's back. "It was just a kiss, it's alright. It doesn't make either of us bad people. It's ok if you like girls…

"But you don't understand." Emma sniffled. "I still like boys. But I like you too. I don't understand…It's not funny!" Emma shouted as she saw Lily smiling.

"I know it's not Em. You're just confused, I get it. You're bi, honey. You can like girls and boys. Don't listen to anyone who says you can't. But know that I'll always be here for you. But let's not let this ruin our day out. It's the last day the ice rink is open. Come on, we can go as friends and forget this ever happened if that's what you want…"

"No." Emma interrupted Lily before taking her hand. "I want to go as your girlfriend."

And that's what led Snow and Charming to find the picture of their daughter and Lily at the ice rink. Lily standing behind Emma, her arms wrapped snugly around Emma's waist. It was clear at a glance that the girls were more than just friends, they were lovers. Snow and Charming were so transfixed staring at the photo that they hadn't noticed Emma coming in and looking at it too over their shoulders. She gasped and snatched it back from Charming's hand, making both her parents jump and spin round.

"You weren't meant to see this." She mumbled, clearly mortified. "I didn't know it was in the picture box I gave you guys. I- I'm sorry. I'll put it in the trash…"

"Why on earth would you do that?" Charming said, taking the picture back from Emma. "This girl clearly meant a lot to you."

"No. No she didn't." Emma stammered, still trying to deny what her parents clearly knew. "Lily and I were just friends. She was just very tactile. As soon as that picture was taken I told her never to do that again. That I only liked guys…"

"Emma." Snow gently interrupted her. "Stop. This girl was clearly your girlfriend." Emma couldn't deny it this time- they knew and it was the truth. She found herself hyperventilating. This was it. This was when they told her she was a freak and had to leave, that they didn't want her around their son. "Honey, we don't care who you're attracted to. We care that you're happy. Please don't feel like you have to hide anything this important from us." Emma could feel her heart rate slowing. She knew they weren't lying; they really were ok with it.

"Just one thing." Charming said. "I don't care if they're male or female. Anyone hurts my baby girl and I will hunt them down." He said warningly. Emma couldn't help but smile.

"Well right now Hook's the only one who needs to worry about that threat but I'll make sure to remember." She replied. It was a relief to be able to get it out in the open. Her parents loved her for who she was. She couldn't ask for anything better.
