A kind little boy
Effervescent Dreamer asked for a oneshot of Henry spending the day with a young Baelfire
Henry sat huddled against the rain. Well, as much against it as he could be. It was still managing to splatter on top of him, making the poor boy shiver. He just wanted to go home, but he didn't know if he ever would be able to. He'd been pulled through by Zelena's stupid time portal. He didn't know if he'd ever see any of his family ever again. Henry sniffed and wiped his face with his sleeve. But it wasn't raindrops he was washing away, it was tears. The best he could tell he was in the Enchanted Forest, but he didn't know when. He was reluctant to talk to anyone. He'd seen enough sci-fi movies to know about the butterfly effect. Not that he was having to work too hard to hide. Nobody seemed to care about an apparent homeless boy in the rain. Well, not until a younger boy appeared
"Hello." He said brightly. Henry looked up but didn't return his smile. "You look cold. Why aren't you at home with your mommy and daddy?" He asked
"My dad's dead." Henry said coldly as he looked down again. "And the rest of my family is very far away."
"Oh." The little boy said brightly, apparently not put off by Henry's gloominess. He sat down beside him. "Well you shouldn't be alone in the rain. I'll wait with you…"
"Don't you get it?" Henry snapped, looking up at him. "There's nobody to wait for. I'm alone. Go home kid, your parents will be worried." The little boy tentatively reached out and took Henry's hand.
"You're not alone anymore, I'm here. Its ok, my parents are working. I just look after myself while they work. I'm meant to be at home but I came to play with my friend Morraine." the boy waved at a little girl who was the same age who was staring at the two boys. The boy seemed to be telling her he was talking with Henry now. She seemed to understand.
"Bye." Morraine shouted over before skipping off to play with the other boys and girls.
"It's ok. My parents won't find out I'm not home. I'll be your friend." The boy assured him. Henry couldn't help but feel touched by his kindness. There was something familiar about the little boy, but Henry couldn't put his finger on it. The child spent what seemed like hours to Henry just keeping him company. Telling him all about the village they were in and all the exciting things that happened. He spoke animatedly about the summer festival that lasted a whole week. He cheered Henry up completely. He almost forgot the whole situation. But all good things must come to an end.
"Baelfire!" The boy jumped and looked in the direction of the woman marching towards them. Henry's heart hit his stomach. Baelfire? This was his dad? That meant that the woman approaching them was Milah, his grandmother. She came over and yanked him up, not giving Henry a second glance. "What have I told you about leaving the house when I'm out?" Milah told him off as she marched him away. Henry just stared in shock. He had spent the day with his dad without knowing?
"Don't worry child." Henry spun round to see a fairy hovering above him. He recognised her from his book as Cinderella's fairy godmother…the one his grandpa would kill for her wand. "I'm here to help." The Fairy Godmother told him calmly. "Your journey has come to an end. You're going home." Henry smiled up at her, emotionally drained. At least he was going home. He had seen his dad again, and kind of met his paternal grandmother. But now he was ready to leave.
