A few surprises

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma and Henry returning from New York after a lot longer than a year and Emma has more children.

Snow and Charming still couldn't believe it. They had gone from being the grandparents of one to three without even knowing. Sure, Emma was dealing with being a big sister but she had told her parents it wasn't a big shock. To them though, Hannah and Max were big shocks. Emma had gotten married, had kids and then Hook found her and she found out her husband was a flying monkey all without them knowing. Now she was home again. Two year old Hannah was playing with her four year old uncle. Two month old Max nestled in his grandmother's arms.

"I guess we have a lot to catch up on." Emma said nervously.

"I'll say." Charming snorted. Both he and Snow felt the same pain. They'd missed so many more important moments in their family's lives. They'd missed their daughter's wedding day- missed the births of their other two grandchildren and two years of their granddaughter's life. According to Emma, they'd also missed Henry's first girlfriend. For all Emma understood and expected her parents to have other children, it was still strange walking in and finding out you had a four year old brother. Especially when he already seemed like he knew her. Their parents had made sure that their little boy was told everything there was to tell about his big sister and nephew. Shown him every picture that remained in the town. As soon as he saw Emma and Henry he hurled himself at Emma's legs whooping excitedly. Now he was happy colouring in pictures of castles and knights with his niece. Charming held his arms out for Max. Snow reluctantly handed the little cutie over.

"Hey buddy," Charming cooed to the little boy. "I'm your papa. I'm sorry we've not been around, but mommy and Henry couldn't remember us. But it's alright. Now that they do you're going to see us every day." Charming and Snow looked up at Emma, a little worried. Now that Charming thought, Emma hadn't mentioned moving back to Storybrooke. Was this just a flyby visit? Was she planning on returning to New York? Emma knew exactly what they were thinking.

"Of course I'm staying." She said with a warm smile. "I can't keep Henry away from Regina any longer, that wouldn't be fair. And I don't know if there are other flying monkeys remaining who could find me and the kids and I'd feel safer here with magic…and I missed you guys." Snow moved over and pulled Emma into a hug.

"We missed you too." She murmured into Emma's hair. "So much." Charming's eyes were tearing up as he looked down at his little grandson. In his two months of life he'd already been through so much, him and his sister. But it was alright now, they were safe here. Snow and Charming would make sure of it.
