Scary movie

Franciny asked for a oneshot of a 14 or 15 year old Emma watching a horror movie whilst home alone. At night she can't sleep and wants her mama.

Emma curled up under her quilt, the bedroom light that was still on creating a comforting glow. Even still, Emma could not sleep. She was terrified that if she did she would accidentally leave her leg hanging off the end of the bed and a demon would come in and drag her down to Hell. No, she would just stay awake all night curled in a tight ball under the quilt. She wished she had never watched that stupid movie now. Olivia and Lucy had dared her to since she hadn't watched it with them at their sleepover at the weekend. Only problem was her parents didn't allow her to watch movies until she was the age on the box. Fortunately her parents were at a town meeting most of Saturday evening meaning she had the house to herself. That just made it even worse. She had made the mistake of turning all the lights off before beginning to watch and then when the film started she was too scared to get up and put them all back on again. The movie had only just finished when her parents came home and they said she should really be heading up to bed. Despite not wanting to in fear of being dragged to Hell, Emma couldn't say no and ask for her mom to stay with her without admitting to watching it. But in her haste to leave Emma had forgotten to properly hide the box.

Later on that night when Snow had gotten up to use the toilet, she'd spotted the DVD. Emma's behaviour when they returned made much more sense now. She had a funny feeling Emma would still be awake. Sure enough when Snow got to her room the light was on and Snow could tell she was still awake under the covers.

"It's only me." Snow whispered softly. Emma whimpered in reply. She could tell her mom knew she'd watched the movie. "You're never going to be able to sleep with the light on honey."

"No mom please I can't sleep without it tonight…"

"Yes you can." Snow told her gently. "I'll be right beside you." Snow turned the light off and came over. She took the covers off from the top of Emma and snuggled in beside her. Emma immediately rested her head on top of her mom's chest and clutched tightly to her pyjama top. Snow hadn't seen her this anxious at night since she was four or five and frightened of the dark. "I'm here." Snow murmured before planting a kiss on top of her head. "You don't need to be frightened. Well, not until the morning anyway when your father and I discuss why you shouldn't be watching scary movies with you. Although I suspect you won't be doing it again any time soon, will you?" Emma shook her head. "Good. Sleep now angel." With her mom beside her, Emma knew she was safe and it didn't take her much longer to drift into a peaceful sleep.
