A special flower

Beyondthebeautyy asked for a oneshot of Snow asking Emma about her tattoo.

Emma smiled amusedly as Snow stared down hard at her wrist.

"It's really nothing special." Emma said. "You've just not been able to see it since the curse broke because most of the time I wear Graham's shoelace over it.

"There's just something so familiar about it…" Snow muttered. Where had she seen that flower before?

"Well it's not an uncommon flower. It's just a pimpernel." Emma said giving a small shrug. "There's really no big story behind it. I just went into the tattoo parlour and knew I wanted a tattoo. I looked at the board of drawings and the pimpernel stood out to me…hey where are you going?" Emma asked as her mother suddenly sprung up from the couch and dashed off out of the room. When she came back she had Henry's storybook in her hands.

"I knew I'd seen that flower before." She muttered as she flipped through the pages. She finally stopped on one and turned it to Emma, pointing at an illustration of her father. "Look at the crest." She told Emma. Emma peered closely at the page, squinting her eyes slightly. She gasped when she saw it. On her father's crest was pimpernels just like the one on her wrist. Emma covered her mouth in shock.

"How is that possible?" She mumbled through her fingers. Snow smiled warmly.

"I guess even though we were far apart you knew more about your home than you figured…and your status as a princess. A very subtle way of letting everyone know how special you are." Snow teased her gently. Emma didn't even roll her eyes, she was still mesmerised. She couldn't argue that her mom was kind of right. Somewhere inside her she was drawn to that flower. Somewhere inside her she had always known who she really was.
