The most loyal friend

wickedjewels94 asked for a oneshot of Emma and Red together.

"No!" Quinn shouted, but it was too late. The arrow lodged in his chest and with a final grunt, he was dead. A fight ensued, and Red was left with the final choice- Snow or her mother. Red could not abandon her friend who had already shown great loyalty towards her. While her mother's wolf form lunged at Snow Red quickly turned herself and intercepted. Unfortunately the interception went wrong and Anita landed on a spike. As she knew her life was leaving her she turned back into her human self. Snow threw Red's cape over her, allowing her to turn and say goodbye to her mother.

"I didn't mean to!" Red sobbed, taking her mother's hand. Anita looked at her coldly.

"You chose her." Anita grunted…

"Whatcha reading there?" Red said nosily, coming over and hovering above Emma. Emma jumped, she'd been so into the story she hadn't noticed Red anywhere near her. "Ah." Red said as she recognised the illustrations. "My story." Emma nodded sheepishly.

"Yeah, just familiarising myself with everyone's back stories…Red?" Emma asked sheepishly. "Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful you did otherwise I wouldn't be here but…why did you pick my mom over yours?" She asked. Red smiled at Emma and turned the pages back.

"This is why…"

"No Red, it's me. No!" Peter screamed. Snow heard him as she walked through the forest with Granny, but knew that it was too late.

Granny shot Red with the silver tipped arrow to take her down before Snow recovered her with the cloak to change her back. Red didn't understand why they were hurrying her, or why they looked so worried. Why couldn't Red remember what she had just been doing? Red turned and saw the blood and her heart dropped.

"Where's Peter?" She asked, her mouth feeling like ash.

"He wasn't the wolf." Snow said gently. Only then did Red understand- it was her.

"And that's why I chose your mom." Red told her. "The loyalty she showed me when she could have run in fear and got me killed. I couldn't let my mother kill her after that. Emma nodded both in understanding and gratitude.

"You two must have had some wild adventures huh?" Red scoffed.

"Your mother had a talent for getting everyone into trouble so yeah, you could call them wild adventures. But it's nothing compared to what she put your father through sometimes on her wild schemes!" Red turned the page again and Emma looked down and grinned.

"Come out, come out wherever you are." Medusa said dangerously…
