Jealous
Fangirl99 asked for a oneshot of Neal being jealous of Rosie so uses his magic to cloak himself but undoes his spell when he sees Snow crying and Emma close to tears.
When Snow had became a mother for the first time things were very different. When Neal was born and she went from being a mother of one to a mother of two things became different once more. Snow was sure when she and Charming became pregnant with their third child things couldn't really be that much different. They had already begun raising one child of each gender so there would be no shocks there. She'd been through two births so she knew what she was doing. They'd gone through sibling jealousy when Neal was born and managed to get Emma through it just fine so they assumed that they'd be able to do the same with Neal after Rosie was born…that's where things went wrong. Neal wasn't coping with having a little sister very well at all. Snow and Charming were giving him every opportunity to hold the baby or help them out with little things but he point blank refused. Even when they were trying to spend some quality time with him or him and Emma together he was distant. Now he'd completely popped. He'd used his limited magical abilities to make himself invisible. They only knew this because they'd heard him talking a couple of minutes after he'd done it but had been too slow to catch him. They had closed off every entrance to the castle straight away so they could only pray he hadn't escaped somehow. Snow had no idea her little boy was in the room with her and her two daughters. The two year old was crouched silently in the corner trying very hard to not make any noise. Snow's head whipped up when Charming came in.
"Any sign of him?" She asked hopefully. Charming shook his head sadly, picking the three year old Emma up into his arms.
"He has to be here somewhere Snow, we've closed everywhere off." Charming answered her looking miserable. Emma's bottom lip started quivering.
"I want Neal." She whimpered. She loved her little brother. He was more fun to play with than mommy and daddy. Neal felt really bad inside. He didn't like upsetting his Emmy. Charming kissed her cheek.
"I know baby. We'll find Neal soon I promise." Emma nodded against her dad's shoulder, not feeling so sure. At that moment Rosie started to cry. Snow bounced her up and down. She'd been fed and changed recently and she wasn't due to sleep yet.
"Come on honey, not just now. Mama needs you not to cry until we find your big brother. Mama needs him back." Snow said her voice cracking. She was trying to stay strong in front of Emma but was finding it increasingly difficult. Neal could see a tear trickle down his mama's cheek. That was it, he didn't want to make mama cry.
"Here I am mama!" He shouted, running at her. He reappeared as he hugged round her knees. The whole family gasped in surprise. He'd been here the whole time.
"Neal!" Snow squeaked. She bent down with Rosie still in one arm and held him tightly, kissing his head multiple times. "Never do that to me again! Mama and daddy were so worried!-"
"Emma too!" The little girl piped up.
"Yes, Emma too." Snow added. "Why did you do that baby? We were really scared." Neal looked down at his feet.
"No like the baby." He admitted. "Takes mama and daddy. She change things." Snow sighed as she rubbed soothing circles on his back.
"I know it feels that way just now. Emma felt the same when you were born. Now look at the pair of you- you're thick as thieves. I promise you'll feel better about having a baby sister real soon." Neal looked up with big watery eyes.
"Promise?" He asked. Snow nodded before kissing his cheek.
"I promise baby boy."
