Can't fix this

Just one of my own here :) no idea where the idea came from but it's been in my head for days!

The room was silent. Just the steady beep of the machines keeping Emma breathing. Snow sat beside her bed, her eyes red and puffy, but she had no more tears to cry. She could only pray that Emma would wake up. Pray that her father would get here soon to keep Snow strong and be there for their daughter. Snow could hear the door open but knew it wouldn't be Charming, he would only just be arriving at Granny's to drop Neal off.

"Oh, Miss." The nurse said, clearly surprised. "You shouldn't be in here at this hour, its long past visiting time. I think you should leave…" Snow turned and stared at the nurse.

"Do you know who I am?" She asked her quietly. The nurse nodded. "Then you know that this is my daughter?" Again, the nurse nodded. "Well let me ask you this, if this was my little boy lying here, would you expect me to leave?" The nurse stayed silent, clearly unable to come up with an answer. "Emma is my child too; I don't care how old she is. I'm not leaving, and when her father gets here he won't be leaving either. I don't care if you say she's stable, I'm not leaving my daughter until she wakes up." The nurse hovered for a moment, clearly unsure if she should insist Snow left. She seemed to decide that Snow wouldn't leave no matter how hard she tried so just walked out of the room. Snow turned back to Emma. She picked up Emma's limp hand and entwined their fingers together. She raised their conjoined hands to just under her chin and kissed each of her fingers. It was a strange sensation that Snow felt. Her eyes saw a woman her own age when she looked down at Emma. But her heart saw no age, her heart and soul just knew this was her baby and here she was at death's door. She knew she couldn't so much as leave the room while Emma was like this. She had to be here for her. She used her free hand to gently stroke the top of Emma's head.

"I'm here." She whispered. "You're going to be alright Emma; you just keep fighting for me." Snow wanted to be able to stay awake all night and watch over Emma, but she knew that wouldn't be possible. "Don't worry, I'm not leaving." She said soothingly as she moved slightly. It was like Snow thought Emma was Neal's age, frightened that if she moved even slightly Emma would get upset. She moved down the bed slightly with her and Emma's hands still linked and rested her head on Emma's leg. "I'm here princess." She promised. "Mom's not leaving." It had been such a long day; Snow was mentally and physically exhausted. It didn't take very long for Snow to fall asleep.

She woke up to the pitch back room a few hours later with Charming coming in. He could see Snow rousing.

"Neal took a long time to settle." He explained. "But he'd down now. How is Emma? Any news?" Snow shook her head sadly. Charming sighed; he was just as worried as Snow. He took his jacket off and draped it over Snow's shoulders before taking his place on the chair at the other side of Emma. He took her other hand and rested his head beside her other leg. This was a scary situation for them both. Their daughter might be their age, but that didn't take away their need to protect her and keep her safe from all harm. The fact that they couldn't make this better killed them inside. All they could do was put their faith in the surgeons, doctors and nurses at Storybrooke General. Pray that their little girl woke up soon.
