Rocking horse
Bluerose921 asked for a oneshot of Emma and family going somewhere where Emma sees something she really wanted as a child. Without her knowledge Snowing get it for her and surprise her with it later.
"Emma, you coming?" Charming gently asked his daughter. She jumped slightly as though she'd been away in her own little world. Until then she'd been staring transfixed at a wooden rocking horse in a toy shop window. Now that they could all come and go as they please, Emma's parents had wanted to come to Boston, where Emma had spent the majority of her childhood. She nodded, pulling her eyes away from the rocking horse.
"Yeah, sure." She said with a smile that both her parents were sure was false. "That old thing's been in that shop window since I was a little kid. Guess the shopkeeper's just not taken the hint that nobody wants a stupid old rocking horse." But that wasn't true, Emma had wanted it once. It had been when she was with a relatively decent home. She had saved up all the pocket money they gave her in a little piggybank. But just before she had enough she got moved on and couldn't remember where the shop was. One of the older kids in the group home stole her piggybank a couple of weeks later anyway. As Emma walked ahead to catch up with Henry Snow and Charming looked at each other- a silent promise made between them- before this day was out Emma was getting that horse.
"We should really be heading back; it's a two hour drive. Where's dad?" Emma asked her mom as she got Neal into his car seat.
"He'll be here in just a moment." Snow replied. Emma couldn't help but notice the goofy smile on her face. What was up with that? But still her mom wouldn't give a full answer as to where her dad was. When he did show up a few minutes later he was carrying something. The rocking horse.
"Oh that's sweet, you got Neal the rocking horse." Emma said, trying to hide her childish jealousy.
"No, Neal has lots of his own toys from us. We got you the rocking horse." Her dad told her as he put it carefully in the boot. Emma stared at them, flabbergasted. Snow smiled at Emma's expression.
"We know you're too big for it, but we thought it would be nice to have around. You might have more kids of your own and you could let them play on it." Snow added. Emma moved forward and wrapped them both in a giant hug. Charming's hand moved to cradle the back of her head while Snow's fingers curled into Emma's hair as was their usual group hug procedure.
"I love you guys." Emma said, her voice wavering with emotion.
"We love you too." Charming told her.
"More than all the stars in the sky." Snow added.
