Awkward situation

Dan asked for a oneshot of Snowing, Emma and Henry talking about the old days.

"Oh man that must have been so awkward!" Henry said, cringing. It was one of the rare occasions when Snow and Charming got to sit down with their daughter and grandson for a proper family dinner and Henry had asked that his grandparents share some embarrassing stories from the Enchanted Forest.

"Yeah, just a little." Charming said, grimacing. "Seeing your former fiancé and her dad at your first Ball with your new wife- not many people can give advice for that, and I did not do well…"

"Princess Abigail, King Midas. It's lovely to see you both." Charming lied. It wasn't lovely, it was horrendously awkward. Snow had insisted that Charming invite his ex fiancé, her father and her current fiancé to their engagement Ball. Said it would help ease tensions and that it would help make sure the alliance between the two kingdoms didn't crumble. Charming couldn't help but notice that Snow was nowhere to be seen whilst he did all the awkward talking. Frederick wasn't here either; he was busy talking with some knights. No doubt also avoiding this. Charming extended his slightly sweaty hand to Midas. He shook it reluctantly.

"Likewise." Midas said gruffly, Charming was sure he was lying.

"Congratulations to you and Snow." Abigail said sincerely.

"And to you and Frederick." Charming replied, grateful for the slight change in conversation. She leaned in to kiss Charming's cheek and Charming responded…but leaned the wrong way resulting in an awkward peck on the lips. Of course after that Snow and Frederick were over in an instant. Snow was never jealous of Abigail nor Frederick of Charming- they both knew Abigail and Charming never had feelings for each other. But that didn't mean that seeing the pair kiss was a good sign.

"Lovely party here." Frederick said too merrily, wrapping an arm around Abigail and pulling her closer. Snow replied with a forced smile, taking Charming's hand tightly. The night didn't improve at all after that. It was just a series of awkward conversation and dances…

"I would not have coped with that well." Emma said laughing. "I didn't cope well when Tamara came to town but then I was right to have my suspicions about her." Emma said. Snow and Charming rolled their eyes- Emma was never going to let that go.

"Abigail and Frederick were lovely people, it was just a tense situation." Charming said. "Safe to say we didn't get invited to their wedding. They claimed the carrier pigeon must have gotten lost but we know we just weren't invited. Not that we minded, our carrier pigeon carrying their invitation to our wedding broke its leg and never made it to their castle." Charming said with a nervous grin. Emma couldn't help but laugh at the Enchanted Forest excuse of "got lost in the mail".

"So I'm guessing they were never in the running for my godparents then?" Emma teased. Snow, Charming and Henry all laughed.

"No Em, they weren't." Charming confirmed.
