Happy Mother's Day
It's Mother's Day in the UK today so here's a little Emma/Snow oneshot in celebration of that :).
Also- wow! Over two thousand reviews! Thank you so much guys, you're the best :)
Snow was just standing in the kitchen washing dishes when Emma came into the room. Snow just smiled warmly at her, she was probably looking for a snack to tide her over since it was the space between lunch and dinner. But it would appear Snow was wrong. Emma came over and wrapped her arms around Snow, resting her head against her shoulder.
"Oh." Snow said, a little surprised. It wasn't like Emma to show such open affection randomly. She placed her own arms around Emma. "What was-"
"Please don't ask what this was for." Emma cut in. Snow closed her mouth, confused. "I know I'm not good with touchy feely stuff, I never have been. But that doesn't mean that sometimes I don't need to just give someone a hug just like everyone else. But whenever I've done it in the past the person always asks why I'm hugging them and it makes me feel like we shouldn't be hugging. I just need someone that I can hug without feeling like I need a reason to hug them. Just because I love then and…and they love me." The wavering in Emma's voice at the last part of her explanation tore Snow's heart wide open. Emma was still unsure sometimes whether her parents really loved her. Snow pulled Emma even closer to her, as though her love could just transfer over to Emma like osmosis.
"Emma Swan you can hug me whenever you like without ever needing a reason." Snow promised her. It was a more subtle way of telling Emma that she did indeed love her- more than all the stars in the sky and all the grains of sand on the beach. Emma nodded against her mom's shoulder and Snow could feel her relax slightly. It upset Snow that Emma had felt worried about simply hugging her mom simply because she didn't have a particular reason for hugging her. On instinct Snow started to sway slightly with Emma, running a hand up and down her back.
"Thank you." Emma eventually murmured against her mom's jumper.
"Hey, you don't need to thank me. I'm your mother- you're my daughter. You want to hug me you hug me- no explanation required."
Snow never again questioned her daughter for any spontaneous hugs. Every so often when nobody else was around Emma would find her mother in the house and just wrap her arms around her- seeking the comfort only a mother can provide.
