An old injury
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma having an old injury that plays up and Snow notices.
Emma winced as she bent down to pick up the pen that she had dropped. Snow took note- that was the third time she'd seen Emma wince like that today. The first time was when she lowered herself down to sit on the couch for a lazy breakfast and the second was when she Snow had asked her to take Neal out of his walker.
"You ok Emma?" Snow asked her. Emma nodded as she set went back to writing her report. "It's just I can't help but notice you seem to be in a bit of pain today- especially when you're bending down. Something up with your knee? Emma looked up at her mom, astonished. How had she realised that?
"Um yeah, actually." Emma said. "It's no biggie though. I did a lot of running for the school track team when I was in middle and high school, some cross country too. Apparently I wasn't built to be a runner though, messed up my knee. It's my own fault really. It started off as just a little twinge here and there, but I went to the doctor anyway just to get it checked out. I had a big competition coming and I didn't want to fall down flat on my face halfway through the race. It wasn't good news. The muscles around my knee just weren't made for running. The doc told me if I didn't stop right away I could end up paralyzed. Of course I ignored him, I was going to win that competition. I could retire after that. I did win my competition, but I collapsed in agony straight afterwards. I had to tell my coach everything. He was so mad at me for not stopping…anyway, long story short it hurts sometimes. No biggie… where are you going?" Emma asked as her mom suddenly left the room.
"To get you a pillow. Go lie down on the couch! Would you prefer a heat pack or ice?" Emma was slightly flabbergasted, surely this was a little OTT? Emma knew when her mom was in this kind of mood nothing would stop her.
"Ice please." Emma called back as she carefully flopped down onto the couch.
