Can't deal with canines
A guest asked for a oneshot of Snowing getting Neal a puppy. Emma doesn't tell them she's allergic and they get upset.
Snow and Charming smiled as Neal waved at them from the back garden where he was playing with Buster, the new dog. Pongo and Perdita had a litter of Dalmatian puppies and Neal had begged them for one. He had promised to be the best dog owner ever. He's walk them, pick up their number twos, play with them, train them and he'd always be on his best behaviour. Snow and Charming eventually decided getting him a puppy might not be a bad idea- it would help him learn some responsibility. Now the puppy was a few months old and so far Neal was holding up to all his ends of the deal. Henry had been over several times to visit the little bundle of fur. He always grumbled about how Emma still wouldn't let him get a puppy. He said that she told him their apartment was far too small for them and a dog. Snow and Charming had noticed that Emma actually hadn't been over to their house since they got Buster. She'd only met with her parents and brother at Granny's really, or see her dad at the station. Was she frightened of dogs and hadn't told them because she was embarrassed? Snow decided next time they met with Emma she'd try and find out.
"We wanted to know if you wanted to come round for lunch on Saturday. I've made roast beef." Snow tempted her daughter as they sipped their hot chocolates and Charming his coffee at Granny's.
"Gee mom that would have been really nice but I've already made plans with Aurora." Emma responded. Snow had expected this- any time she or Charming tried to get Emma to come round she claimed to already have plans.
"Well alright," Charming said "next Saturday? I can make burritos." Emma looked down at her feet.
"I said I'd take Henry to see the new James Bond film." She said. Both her parents knew she was lying- Henry had already told them he was going with Hansel and Gretel.
"Alright Emma, cut the crap." Snow said seriously. "We know you're lying to us- we just don't know why. Are you scared of dogs? Are you worried about Buster?" She asked her. Emma sighed, there was no point in hiding it any longer.
"I'm not scared of them." She said, looking up "I'm allergic. I can't be near them or my eyes get all itchy and swollen and my throat gets quite dry and scratchy."
"And why didn't you tell us this before we agreed to get Neal a dog?" Charming sighed.
"I could see how desperate he was. I know what it's like to be told no when you're a kid, I didn't want him to go through that. It's not like I can't see you guys, I just can't go in the house."
"But Emma, that's your home too." Snow pointed out. "You should have told us. We could have worked something out with Neal- got him a poodle or another breed that doesn't shed fur." Emma crinkled her nose in disgust.
"My little brother is not walking through the park with a poodle."
"This is serious Emma." Charming told her off.
"Sorry." Emma mumbled, feeling bad. There was an awkward silence for a few moments before Snow spoke up.
"Right, ok. I'm sure Blue will have some sort of potion you can take that will allow you to be near dogs, even if only temporarily. But you still should have told us Em. You're part of this family and if a decision is made that could affect you we need to know- understood?" Emma gulped and nodded, feeling a bit like a child getting into trouble.
"Good." Charming said as he reached forward and kissed her cheek. "I'll see you at the station tomorrow, and we'll see you at lunch on Saturday. I'm sure Buster looks forward to meeting you." Emma nodded nervously. Why couldn't she be allergic to some obscure pet like ferrets?
