Cake

Crosseyed-Cupcake asked for a oneshot of Snowing make a cake for Emma's birthday. It doesn't turn out so well but Emma cries because nobody's ever got her a cake for her birthday before. Weirdly accurate for me just now as I made a cake for my mum yesterday which didn't turn out too great lol.

To the guest that asked for Neal and Gold saving a sleeping Emma from Pan instead of Henry. I'm confused as to what you mean?

Snow and Charming were unbelievably excited. There were no giants parading through town, no villains trying to steal happy endings, no crazy ex-Foster moms trying to create themselves a new family, and most importantly, no memory stealing curses. This would be Emma's first birthday with her parents where there was nothing to ruin the day and Snow and Charming were determined that it would go off without a hitch. Their little princess was going to have the perfect day (even though she'd put her foot down on having a Ball in her honour). Back home, there would have been a chef to create a cake so tall the top tier would have scraped off the ceiling. Here there were of course bakers (and some who specialised in making celebration cakes), but Snow and Charming thought both of those options would have been too impersonal for them. They wanted to make Emma's cake themselves. So they got up early on the morning of the twenty third of October the parents got up extra early to prepare a chocolate cake- with a cinnamon buttercream icing. Though the pair did their best, neither was exactly what you'd call a master baker. They were frightened of leaving the cake in the oven too long because it was chocolate and harder to tell if it was burnt. As a result they took it out a little too early and- particularly one of the halves on the sandwich cake- was a little under baked. But still the pair ploughed on and plastered it up with the buttercream and even managed a "happy birthday Emma" in shaky icing wring on top of the crumbly pieces of flake. (AN for those of you unfortunate enough to come from the States and as such have limited access to Cadbury's chocolate a flake is one of their chocolate bars). They had just lit the candles in time for Emma to stumble down into the kitchen sleepily.

"Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday dear Emma!

Happy birthday to you!" They sang together in chorus much to their daughter's surprise.

"Well come and blow out the candles." Charming chuckled. Emma- still in a state of shock- came forward and blew them out, causing her parents to burst into applause.

"We know it's not a perfect cake." Snow said. "We just thought we'd give it a go. We can always get you a proper one…"

"No!" Emma shouted. She then moved forward and pulled her parents into a tight hug. "Nobody's ever made me a cake before…it's perfect." She told them, masking her tears into the hug. "I love it, thank you." Snow and Charming hugged her back even tighter, so glad they'd made the decision to make the cake for her.
