Too cool for school

samjaymcnulty asked for a oneshot of Emma being rude to her tutor and Snow disciplining her.

"In you come Emma." Snow said as she heard the knock at the door. She tried to keep her tone as neutral as possible, Emma didn't know she was in trouble. Emma's tutor- Mrs Grant- had come to Snow to inform her that the young Princess had been refusing to do her work as "One day I'll be a Queen and I won't do any work because I'll have servants to do it all for me." Well of course Snow knew that wasn't true, a big part of her job was paperwork. Also, there was no way she was letting her daughter away with such cheek. The six year old skipped merrily up to her mother's desk.

"You wanted to see me mama? Are you done for the day? Are we going out to the meadow?" She asked excitedly. Her face fell when Snow shook her head.

"No Emma, I'm not done yet, not nearly done. In fact, I thought you might be able to help me." Emma's face lit up again, she loved helping either of her parents! Snow slid a pile of paper across to Emma. "Do you mind reading these to check they're reasonable demands before signing them off?" She challenged her daughter. Emma picked up the piece of paper from the top of the pile and began to try and read it.

"Mama, this is too hard. The words are too big, I can't read it." Emma said, shoving back the pile. Snow raised her eyebrows.

"Oh, so you mean you're not advanced enough to be telling your tutor that you don't need to be taking any more lessons?" Snow asked her. Emma gulped, now knowing she was in trouble. "Well let me tell you Emma Ruth that when you become Queen you will most certainly need to know how to read and write. You will also need to know how to treat every single person with respect. So," Snow slid Emma over a blank sheet of paper, quill and ink "you are going to write Mrs Grant a letter of apology that fills this whole sheet. There will also be no desert for a week. Am I clear?"

"Yes mama." Emma said, shoulders hunching as she picked up the quill and dipped it in ink, beginning to scratch away at the paper.
