Stay put

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow getting frustrated because Emma is meant to be staying in bed but is being stubborn.

"Emma." Snow shouted sternly. Emma jumped slightly, only just keeping herself up against the banister. "This is the third time today that I've caught you out of bed. You heard Whale as well as I did- you aren't meant to be up and about for at least another three weeks!" Snow rushed over to Emma and gave her a stern look before taking Emma's shoulders and supporting the majority of her weight. She didn't mind looking after both her children, it was no extra burden. She should always have been juggling both children at the same time. What she did mind was Emma disobeying direct orders from the doctor.

"Well sorry for wanting to go to the bathroom by myself." Emma grumbled. She hated this whole situation. One slip on a stupid banana skin (of all the most stereotypical things!) and here she was, supposedly incapacitated for another month! Emma had always been an independent person. Growing up the way she did she was left with little choice to be anything but. She wasn't used to people actually caring if she followed medical advice or not.

"I already told you. If you need to go just ring the bell or shout on me and I'll come help you." Snow sighed, about to steer Emma round and head back to the bathroom so she could go. Emma used her strength to keep her mom from turning.

"I've already been, I was heading back. Anyway, I already told you- I am not ringing any stupid bell, and I didn't need to shout on you. I was perfectly capable of going by myself." Emma huffed. Emma rolled her eyes as she helped Emma back to her bed.

"Emma, nobody wants to see you end up back in hospital. Please, just humour us would you?" Snow sighed as she pulled the blanket back up around Emma's shoulders. Emma looked up to argue back but the look her mother was giving her was scary enough to make her keep her mouth shut. "Now, Neal will be waking up from his nap soon and wanting fed. That means that I'm going to have to take my eye off of you for more than a few seconds. Do you think you'll manage to stay in bed?" Snow asked sarcastically. Emma rolled her eyes.

"Fine." She complained. Snow kissed her cheek.

"Good. I'll just be downstairs if you want to shout on me…or ring the bell." Snow reminded her. Emma resisted the urge to take the bell and chuck it out of the window. She felt that was a wonderful display of good behaviour in itself.
