Baby number three
orange flowers asked for a oneshot of Snow and little Emma in the Enchanted Forest.
As Snow woke up she could feel a slightly heavy weight covering her torso. She knew exactly what- or who- it was: Emma. She opened her eyes and looked down at the little three year old curled up on top of her like a koala cub.
"She was there like that when I woke up half an hour ago." Charming whispered from beside her. "That's the third night in a row she's snuck in here during the night. What's going on?"
"She's just anxious with the new baby." Snow said, looking over to her week old daughter who was lying in the Moses basket beside the bed, still peacefully asleep.
"She wasn't at all like this when Neal was born. She was totally fine." Charming reminded his wife.
"Yes, but when Neal was born Emma was only a year old. This time she's three, she has a lot more cognitive understanding of the changes that might happen with a new baby." Snow pointed out. "Also, Rosie's a girl, Neal was a boy. She might be worried another girl will replace her."
"Ahh." Charming said, understanding. He reached over and gently stroked Emma's cheek. The action seemed to begin to wake Emma up. Snow loved the way her little nose scrunched up. She reached down and kissed her little girl's forehead.
"Good morning baby." Snow whispered. "Why did you come through here?"
"Wanted mama and daddy." The toddler mumbled sleepily.
"Well we're right here princess." Charming assured the little girl. "I'll be back soon, I'm going to get Neal ready for the day." He said before he kissed all three of his girls and got up to get his boy. Snow could hear Rosie's little hungry whimpers. She didn't want to move Emma too much, knowing Emma needed some comfort.
"Want to help me hold the baby?" Snow offered. She could see her eldest seemed unsure. "You can stay on mama's lap." Emma then nodded slowly as Snow sat up with Emma still on her lap. She reached beside her and pulled Rosie out of the basket and set her in Emma's arms. She pulled her top up and helped Emma guide Rosie up to feed. "What a big girl you are holding your baby sister." Snow praised Emma. "Such a clever girl." Snow noticed the proud little smile that graced Emma's little face. "You can help me do lots of stuff with Rosie if you want to. But that doesn't mean Rosie will be with us for everything we do. You and me can still do things together, and you and daddy too alright." Emma nodded, concentrating hard on her baby sister. Snow was so proud of Emma, she knew Rosie was lucky to have such a wonderful big sister.
