One lost child to another

A couple of people have asked for a oneshot of Maleficent confronting Emma after finding out she knew Lily.

Emma sat on the bench at the end of the dock just watching the waves come up and lap against the rocks. She always found some peace sitting here.

"I'm not sure mommy and daddy would like to think of you sitting here all alone." A voice said quietly from behind her. "All sorts of accidents could happen."

"What do you want Maleficent?" Emma growled.

"Temper temper dear." Maleficent said calmly as she came round and sat beside Emma on the bench. "I only wish a little chat."

"Well talk quickly. Otherwise you might find yourself having a little accident." Emma warned. She didn't have the patience to deal with any of the villains right now. Although Emma was finding herself unsure of who the villains and heroes were now. Maleficent laughed at what she deemed Emma's cute attempt at a threat.

"Alright, have it your way, I shall cut the pleasantries. Rumplestiltskin has helped me find out more about my child. The child your parents caused me to lose…"

"Leave them out of whatever you have to say to me." Emma warned.

"Alright, fine. We'll forget the despicable act they committed then. The point is I know that you and my daughter once met- were once friends." Maleficent told Emma.

"Well then either he's lying or he's got his facts wrong. I didn't have any friends." Emma told Maleficent, beginning to get fed up of this conversation.

"Oh Rumplestiltskin is never wrong dear, you and my daughter were once friends. Don't you remember her? Don't you remember Lily?" Emma's eyes widened and she whipped her head around to face Maleficent.

"How?" Emma croaked. "That can't be possible, she had a dad!" Emma didn't understand, surely this wasn't right?

"She had an adoptive father. Lily is definitely my daughter, and I need your help to bring her back to me." Maleficent explained. "She's not going to come with me- a total stranger to her. But she might come to stay with an old friend. Please Emma, you're both a child who lost her parents and a mother who lost her child. You must understand why I want to be reunited." Maleficent pleaded.

"I do." Emma said quietly. "But then you have to understand that this will change Lily's life forever. I don't even know if Lily knows that she's adopted. That's a lot of emotional baggage you want to dump on her. I need you to understand that if I go to find her it's a permanent thing, you can't just change your mind and suddenly decide you're not capable of being a mother."

"Of course I won't." Maleficent answered her, horrified at the suggestion. "Lily is my daughter and when I have her back home with me I never intend to be separated from her again." Emma smiled bitterly. She was sure her parents had felt the same about her, but because of that they lied to her. Emma nodded slowly.

"If I'm told where to look I'll go find Lily. But I can't promise that she'll come with me. Things didn't exactly end well between us." Maleficent understood, this was the only chance she was going to get so she had to take it.

"Just do your best. Rumplestiltskin can tell you where to look." Maleficent told Emma before getting off of the bench and walking away leaving Emma to take in all the information she'd been given.
