One chance

Season 4 finale spoilers! A spoiler was leaked with Emma holding up Rumple's dagger and it would appear she's sacrificing herself in some way. A guest asked for a oneshot based on this leak of Emma sacrificing herself because someone is going to hurt her parents.

There was no other option. Maleficent had made that perfectly clear to Emma. If she didn't kill Rumplestiltskin and become the Dark One Maleficent was going to kill Emma's parents. She didn't really care about Rumpelstiltskin's death- she cared about Emma becoming dark and evil. Her daughter had been taken from her so Snow and Charming could preserve their daughter's goodness- what better way to make them pay than by making all those years of guilt for what they did all be in vain? No matter how angry Emma was at her mom and dad for lying to her she would not let them die. Especially with little Neal- she wouldn't let her brother grow up without parents like she had to. So here Emma stood with Rumple's dagger in her hand. The man himself standing mere inches away from her with a smile on his face. He had expected this- and it seemed after centuries of life- he welcomed death.

"Do it." He said quietly. "I've lost everyone I've ever loved- I have no reason to live anymore. Once you become the Dark One you'll understand. Everyone you love will desert you too."

"If I don't kill you they die anyway!" Emma shouted, tears beginning to pour down her face. "I have no choice!" Storm clouds were forming just over where Emma and Rumple stood. Emma could hear the thunder roar and see the flashes of lightening. Wind whipped around them causing Emma's hair to fly all around her face.

"Whatever your reasons are, Miss Swan, I don't really care. You'll be releasing me from this Hell on Earth. Just get it over with." Emma wasn't sure she could do this. She knew none of her family would accept her as the Dark One. Could she destroy the dagger? Was she strong enough for that? There had to be another way out of this. Emma decided it was worth a chance. She held the dagger to the sky and focused her powers on ordering all the lightening there was available to come to the dagger as well as focusing her own magical heat onto the dagger. This was it- either the dagger was destroyed…or Emma died.
