Chapter 2
-The next day; Destroyer Graveyard; Planet Jakku-
A metal sheet is pulled open to reveal the wrapped-up face of a scavenger, perhaps alien, in goggles, face mask, and gloves. The scavenger had a backpack with a staff strapped to it while they were using tools to remove various mechanisms from inside the wall. The scavenger was currently upside-down and in a canted corridor. The Scavenger smiled to themselves as they found a valuable piece before quickly putting the piece into their bag and swinging their bag over their shoulder. They began climbing down a cable that was between the two massive walls they were between. The scavenger had had a hard day trying to get what she could for portions from the outpost. The frowned as they finally landed and found a few more items before sliding down the large sand hill on a piece of sheet metal. Once they were down the hill, the scavenger removed the goggles and mask revealing the scavenger was a young woman. The young woman quickly grabbed her canteen and tried to take a large swig of water but frowned when only two drops came from the bottle. This was not good. She was out of water. A sigh left her lips as she closed her eyes for a long moment before she opened them hearing the distant noise of a speeder. She looked to her left and saw a small speeder coming straight towards her. The scavenger covered her face as the speeder stopped next to her junker speeder. The young woman smiled seeing the one woman whom she saw as a friend and knew that she could trust. "Cecilia," she greeted happily.
Cecilia smiled gently at the young woman who was only a few of years younger than her. "Hello, Rey. I have a few items for you…if you are willing." Cecilia was dressed in her old robes with a brown cloak over the dark gray clothing. She had chosen dark grey for her robes because she knew that she would always struggle with both the light and the dark in her life because of whom her family was. She had been taken in by Rey when she had arrived on Jakku, and Cecilia often helped Rey so Rey could survive even though she was a scavenger. The young woman got a large bag full of items that Cecilia had had in her small home and gave it to Rey who beamed happily. "Also, if you're okay with me staying with you tonight, you can even pawn off my speeder."
Rey went wide eyed as she looked at Cecilia with a frown. "Why would you need to get rid of your speeder?" she asked softly studying her friend. "You're leaving, aren't you?" Rey breathed in shock.
Cecilia sighed and nodded. "Yes. I am. Something has happened…I have to try and stop it before it's too late," she answered her friend. Cecilia studied Rey for a moment and frowned slightly…more so to herself. She could feel something inside of her friend, but couldn't recognize it. She inhaled slightly before forcing a small smile onto her lips. "I know you will do just fine, Rey. That's why I want to help you one last time. This way you can at least last a while and build up an inventory on the things you find."
Rey gave another smile to Cecilia. "Thank you," she whispered softly and put the things she now had on her junker speeder so she could head to the outpost. "Where are you going?" she asked softly.
"That is something I cannot tell you, Rey," Cecilia quipped as they both got on their respective speeders before they took off down the sands of the desert towards Niima outpost.
-Niima Outpost; Planet Jakku-
Cecilia was selling the fruit she had harvested before leaving her home for one last time. She smiled at the vendor as she was given quite a bit of credits that she would keep for emergencies. She walked around the shops and stalls humming softly to herself. She looked up into the sky sensing something and frowned to herself for a moment. She shook her head and continued wandering the shops before noticing the ship that she grew up dreaming of flying. The ship she had memorized every single part of. That was going to be her way off this planet, but Cecilia hoped that it still flew. She turned her attention to Rey as the young woman brought over a bag full of 40 full portions for everything that she had brought to Unkar.
"I got 40 full portions! 40! I don't think I have ever gotten that many," Rey exclaimed happily.
Cecilia smiled softly as she followed her friend to her speeder and got on behind Rey while moving her hood to cover her face so sand wouldn't get into her eyes. The blonde woman held on tightly as Rey sped through the desert to the abandoned AT-AT that Rey lived in. Cecilia slowly got off the jumper biting her lip as she gazed at the desert that had become her home for the last four years. The former Jedi frowned as she heard a distant electronic squeal. She looked at Rey as her friend came out and motioned to her staff. "Can I borrow that for a moment? I think Teedo is terrorizing a droid again," she quipped. "You focus on eating. I'll save that droid." She took Rey's staff and rushed to where she heard the squeals from by climbing a sand dune. "Tal'ama parqual!" she exclaimed causing Teedo and the droid that she recognized to stop. She ignored the sudden excited squeals that came from the droid and stared at Teedo. "Parqual zatana!" Cecilia moved forward and produced a knife to cut the netting off the BB unit she had known once. "Noma," she snapped at the alien in front of her who screamed in annoyance before storming off on his beast. Cecilia closed her eyes for a long moment as she listened to the excited binary coming from the BB unit. She looked down at the droid before kneeling to him. "Hello," she greeted softly and chuckled as the droid bumped her knee with its head. "Come now, BB-8. Let me fix your antenna," she said as she reached up and took the antenna out to fix it. "You were there weren't you? At the village? That means Poe was there wasn't he?" she whispered. At BB-8's soft coo, she looked down at the sand. When her uncle had betrayed her brother and abandoned her, she went to the Resistance and met a pilot unlike any other. "If Poe had been there…then that means he was taken by the First Order…I don't know if there's anything that we can do for him. Come on. I have a place for you to stay the night. I am leaving in the morning," Cecilia said as she began walking back towards where Rey lived.
Rey frowned seeing a droid with Cecilia. "Who is that?" she asked her friend.
"An old friend of mine. He'll be joining me on my journey. Don't worry he isn't staying long," she said to Rey. Cecilia took the bun from the plate Rey had made for her. "Have mine," she told the young woman and smiled softly. "I am going to meditate okay. You need rest. I'll see you in the morning." Cecilia ate her bun as she went outside and climbed onto the top of the AT-AT to sit by herself as she watched the sun set. The blonde sat straighter as she closed her eyes and crossed her legs letting her body fall into a trance like state that she had not done in so long. She felt the air move around her as the Force connection inside of her began to restrengthen. The blonde gasped softly as she felt something tug at her causing her eyes to snap open as she felt a bond appear that hadn't been in place in 6 years. She swallowed thickly falling down on her bottom not even realizing she had been floating in the air or that the sun was completely gone now. Cecilia looked up at the sky and whispered, "Oh, Ben."
The blonde removed her cloak before taking her long blonde hair out of its tight bun. She lightly ran her fingers through her hair to get any knots out of it and began redoing her hair. However, instead of a bun, Cecilia put her hir into a hairstyle she had commonly worn so long ago. She secured the bottom half od her hair with a tie and began putting four small Dutch braids in the top half with two on each side. She held the ends of those braids between her lips and unsecured the bottom half of her hair separating it into three sections. She released three of the four breads and placed one braid in each section before making one large braid. Once she secured the large braid, she took the final small braid and wrapped it around her head almost like a crown of hair and pinned it down to make sure it wouldn't come off. Her hazel eyes seemed to glow in the moonlight that began shining as she did her hair. She slowly lifted her bag from the sand with the Force and brought it over to her as she stood from her sitting position. In the bag she had a black belt that she quickly put around her waist before getting her lightsaber hilts out. She had connected them in the middle as she had a bad habit of using one blade at first before using her second. Cecilia unconnected the two hilts and attached them to the clips on each side of her belt before reaching back into her bag and pulled out two small blasters. While she had inherited her Force abilities from her mother's side of the family, her father had taught her how to shoot when she was old enough to walk. Her mother had protested at first, but Cecilia loved it as it gave her something to bond over with her father. The blonde quickly put the two thigh holsters and snapped them on before checking the ammo of her blasters that she had not used in years. With a nod of satisfaction, she holstered the blasters and put her cloak back on.
BB-8 tried his best to look at the top of the old walker wanting to see Cecilia. He had known her quite a few years ago and had missed her when she had left. He knew that his master was angry with her for leaving and not explaining why, but he knew. BB-8 had overheard the conversation Cecilia had had with the General. Over the years he had tried to explain it to Poe why she really left, but the damn pilot never listened to him. BB-8 squealed and cooed sassily at Cecilia trying to get her attention. *Come on, Cecilia! Bring me up there! Poe is a stupid brat and doesn't understand why you left. Honestly, I think zapping his ass would do the trick.*
Cecilia gasped in shock at the droid. "BB-8! Don't you dare call Poe that. He is an amazing pilot, and I can understand why he was mad with the way I left. I would react the same way. I just have to somehow regain his trust. That is all. Now, power down. I'll let you know when we're leaving in the morning."
BB-8 looked up in the direction of Cecilia's voice before giving a noise of defeat. *Fine. Meanie.*
"Oi! I am not mean!" Cecilia grumbled as she jumped down from the top of the walker gazing at the droid with narrowed eyes. "You're the mean one. Always threatening to zap people! I swear if someone says one bad thing about you, you zap them."
*Oh like you're no better! You used to smack Poe every time he did something wrong or said something bad! You're not bloody perfect either.* BB-8 chirped at her sassily causing Cecilia to gape at him in offense.
"Why you little-!" she exclaimed. She narrowed her eyes more and huffed at the droid. "I am going to tell Poe not to give you any oil baths for a month," she snapped before settling against the side of the AT-AT as the little droid settled next to her beeping softly before powering down.
