Chapter 3
-The next morning; Planet Jakku-
Cecilia smiled softly as she watched as Rey dropped BB-8 from the side of her speeder. The pair had gotten along quite well once the morning started especially since BB-8 helped Rey with finding the few small items she was going to turn into Unkar.
"Don't worry. I am sure Cecilia will reunite you with whoever your master is. She is the one person I would trust with that task," Rey told the droid eagerly. She walked with BB-8 towards Unkar's desk to turn in the pieces. She frowned as he looked over the pieces she gave him and he told her they were all worth half a portion together. "They were worth half a portion each last week," she said with disappointment.
"What about the droid?" Unkar asked Rey with peaked interest for the droid.
Rey frowned slightly. "What about him?" she asked.
"I'll pay for him," Unkar responded as he proceeded to pull out many, many portions. "Sixty portions," he said smirking down at Rey who looked speechless.
Rey looked at the food wide eyed. She had a lot of food left from her hull yesterday thanks to Cecilia, but with this much, she wouldn't have to scavenge every single day anymore. She swallowed thickly and looked down at BB-8 remembering how the droid was going with Cecilia. "I'm sorry. The droid's not for sale," she said to him and turned away holding her single half portion. She smiled down at the droid who beeped grateful that Rey didn't sell him.
Unkar glared at Rey and the droid as they walked away from him. He reached over and grabbed his communicator. "Follow the girl, and get that droid," he ordered before closing up shop.
Cecilia kept a watchful eye on the ship that she was planning on using. When she first saw the ship, she had been shocked to see it. She couldn't believe her father had let the ship be stolen in first place. A smirk crossed her lips as she thought about how her honorary uncle would have ripped her father a new one. She turned to her left seeing Rey and BB-8 out of the corner of her eye and smiled softly. Her smile fell after a moment as she felt something enter the atmosphere. The blonde Force user turned back around and looked up seeing a streak in the sky along with a faint trace of a Force presence. She furrowed her brow slightly trying to subconsciously reach out to see who she was feeling and went wide feeling Poe. She shook her head sighing heavily and bit her lip as she continued to walk around the different shops and vendors letting her mind wander not realizing hours had passed while Rey and BB-8 also explored and talked. She looked up at the sky looking back at BB-8 with renewed determination. She knew the Resistance would save Poe, and she would get Poe his crazy droid back to him. "Rey, can I talk to you for a moment?" she asked motioning for BB-8 to start heading towards the ship she would be stealing. Once BB-8 rolled off, Cecilia held out a small device that could reach across the whole galaxy. "If you ever need me for anything Rey, do not hesitate to activate this communications device. It will reach me no matter where I am in the gal-" She growled, cutting herself off as she saw Unkar's men capturing BB-8. "OI!" she yelled and pulled out her blaster while shooting one of them in shoulder as she and Rey rushed towards BB-8 who was trapped under a thick piece of fabric. Rey used her staff to his and knock away a few of the men as Cecilia shot at the other two men. She wasn't killing them with the shots she gave, but she knew they would think twice before going after her and her friends again. Cecilia kneeled down next to BB-8 as Rey removed the fabric covering BB-8. The blonde sighed in relief as BB-8 beeped gratefully.
BB-8 paused in his thanks to Rey and Cecilia as he saw a man wearing a familiar jacket. BB-8 quickly began beeping again. *That fucking thief! That ass stole my Master's jacket! Get that jacket from him. It doesn't belong to him!*
Rey stood as she looked to where BB-8 was looking. "Him?" she asked. At BB-8's affirmative beep, Rey took off chasing the man down. She quickly knocked him down with her quarterstaff glaring at him. "What's your hurry, Thief?!" she snapped at him.
The man whom Rey had knocked down looked at her confused by what she had said to him. "What-?! Thief?" he murmured confused. He yelped in pain as Poe's droid suddenly zapped his leg. "OW! HEY! What?" he said looking between Poe's droid and the young woman.
"The jacket! This droid says you stole it!" Rey cried out still glaring at the man who was on the ground.
"I've had a pretty messed up day, alright?! So, I would appreciate it if you would stop accusing me -OW!" he cried out as Poe's droid zapped him again. "STOP IT!" he exclaimed at the droid.
Rey growled at the man on the ground as Cecilia finally came over. "Where did you get it? It belongs to his master," Rey hissed as she motioned to BB-8.
The man on the ground looked defeated for a moment before sighing heavily. "It belonged to Poe Dameron. That was his name, right?" Once he got an affirmative beep from the droid, he continued speaking, "He was captured by the First Order. I helped him escape, but our ship crashed." The man paused swallowing thickly. "Poe didn't make it." He sighed heavily as the droid rolled off sadly and into the other woman's arms. "Look, I tried to help him. I'm sorry…" he whispered softly as he got to his feet.
Cecilia felt her chest get tight as she kneeled down and hugged BB-8 close for a moment before he rolled away from her. She stood back up rushing away from them without running. Poe was dead? There was no way that he was dead because she had just felt him. A soft whimper escaped her throat as she moved towards the ship she was going to be stealing from Unkar. The blonde moved quick enough for people to not take notice of where she was going not caring if BB-8 hadn't been following her. She needed to be alone. She leaned against the wall of the ship was now in and a feeling of nostalgia washed over her. She blinked seeing a younger version of herself running and giggling as she ran from her father who was chasing her. Cecilia swallowed as she closed her eyes letting her thoughts wonder to her father…hoping he was safe and okay with her honorary uncle. The Force user gasped as she was brought out of her thoughts as she heard screams and blaster fire. Her eyes widened as she rushed down the ramp and paled seeing TIE fighters. "Fuck!" she exclaimed and quickly rushed back up the ramp of the ship going towards the cockpit to turn on and prime the ship because Unkar had fucked with certain aspects of the ship that she most certainly did not agree with. She turned around as she heard Rey's voice. "Rey!" she called out and saw the man from before. "You go to the gunner's seat below. Rey, I need a co-pilot," she ordered before turning back and focusing on getting the ship primed. "Come on…don't fail me now," she whispered soflty.
"Are you sure you can fly this thing?" Rey asked as she helped Cecilia get the ship ready.
"This is the ship I learned how to fly on," Cecilia answered as she removed her cloak revealing her two blasters and both lightsabers. She pushed the soft gasp that came from Rey. Cecilia straightened as she pulls the yoke to make the engines fire up. She hissed as the ship wobbled. "Come on, baby girl. Don't do this to me now," she whispered trying to urge the ship into steadying out. The ship they were on dropped for a second, and Cecilia pressed on a button to her left smirking as the ship steadied out. "Rey, get those shields up," she ordered her friend as she grabbed a headset for each of them. Her hazel eyes brightened as she pushed the throttle and took off from the outpost. She moved up slightly before immediately diving down as TIEs quickly followed after them.
Rey frowned looking confused as Cecilia flew lower. "Why are we flying so low?" she asked and blinked as the man and Cecilia answered together.
"It confuses their tracking," the two answered at the same time.
Cecilia felt as if something was taking over as she flew the ship her father had taught her to fly in. She frowned and moved the ship sharply before a blast hit right where they had been. "What are you doing back there?! Are you ever gonna fire back?!" she exclaimed over the headset to the man whom had come with Rey onto the ship.
"I'm working on it! Are those shield up?" the man answered.
Rey rolled her eyes at his question. "Yes! They have been up since we took off! Now, fire back!" she answered him.
The man huffed slightly as he struggled in the gunner's chair. "How about you try sitting in this thing?" he said back at her. He angled his seat a different way and began shooting at the two TIEs following them. A soft curse left his lips as he missed the fighters. "We need to find some sort of cover!" he called out to the two girls.
Cecilia and Rey looked at each other as they had identical thoughts. They needed to get to the destroyer graveyard. "We're about to have some," Cecilia called out. She growled to herself as she broke the ship hard while turning it revealing the place she was taking them…the destroyer graveyard. She continued maneuvering the ship through the graveyard as if she was one with the ship and knew when to turn before they got hit or crashed. The hazel eyed young woman smirked slightly as she heard an explosion signifying Finn had gotten one of the fighters.
"Nice shot!" Rey cried out happily.
The man smiled to himself nodding as his confidence grew. "I'm getting pretty good at this!" A frown crossed his face a couple of moments later when the second TIE fired at the cannon locking it. He cursed loudly. "Shit!" he exclaimed and swallowed thickly. "We have a problem. The cannon's now stuck in forward position. I can't move the damn thing! You gotta lose that fucking TIE!" he called out to the girls.
Cecilia hissed as she looked around their surroundings. She hit Rey's arm slightly to get her attention. "There," she whispered pointing to the large opening of an engine on the rubble of a destroyer.
"Get ready!" Rey called out as Cecilia began moving the ship faster before swinging the ship up and around and into the engine.
The man pales slightly seeing where they going. "What the hell?! Are we really doing this right now?!" he cried out.
Cecilia made a face that told Rey she was pulling all these flying maneuvers out of her ass. Her hazel eyes widened as she saw she was running out of room in the wreckage she was flying through. In a split second, Cecilia pulled on the yoke again make a sharp turn out of the wreckage before suddenly cutting the power.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Rey yells as the ship began free falling and flipping over.
The man in the gunner's seat went wide eyed as he saw his cannon had a perfect shot to take down the TIE. He smirked as he confidently as he fired one shot at the TIE pursuing them destroying it in the process as he feels the ship flip and fly away as Cecilia gunned the engines again. "Whooo!" he exclaimed in excitement from the adrenaline rush.
Cecilia beamed as she flew through the clouds of Jakku and into space for the first time in four years. She had missed what all of the glittering stars looked like…how the distant planets glowed in the blackness void. She turned her head as she watched Rey excitedly leave the co-pilot seat to meet up with the man who had tagged along with them. The blonde woman chuckled faintly as the two came into the cockpit gushing about his hits but also her flying causing her to blush sheepishly.
"Now that was some flying! How did you do that?!" the man asked excitedly with adrenaline still coursing through his veins.
"Truth be told I haven't flown like that in four years, but I grew up in a ship like this," Cecilia answered him lightly and smiled. "Your shooting was quite the spectacle as well. I haven't seen shooting like that in a long minute." Cecilia faced the pair as BB-8 rolled up to her. She lightly placed a hand on the top of his dome as she gazed at the man. "What's your name?" she asked slowly.
The man paused for half a second that only Cecilia noticed. "Finn. What are your names?" he asked the two girls in response.
"This is Rey. I'm Cecilia…" Cecilia gave a slightly forced smile not saying her last name. She knew both of her parents and even her uncle had recognizable last names, so Lia tried to never use them. "You can call me Lia, though."
