Chapter 6
-Maz's Castle; Takodana-
Cecilia swallowed thickly as she stared up at Maz's castle while the group walked towards the castle. She had come here right after she left the Resistance to get an untraceable ship so she could hide from both the Resistance and the First Order. The blonde woman looked at her father for a long moment knowing he had many questions, but Lia was not up to answering them now. As they entered the castle, Lia immediately found Maz and smiled softly at the being.
Maz stopped what she was doing and narrowed her eyes before turning and seeing two people she hadn't seen in a few years. "Han Solo! Cecilia Solo!" she greeted loudly causing everyone to turn and look at the group that had just walked in.
Han swallowed thickly before smiling and waving. "Hey, Maz," he responded. He was grateful as everyone quickly resumed their activities in the large palace. He glanced at his daughter who nodded and waved at Maz as she came over to them.
Maz quickly pushed passed people as she came up to them and immediately hugged Cecilia. She had not seen the blonde in quite a few years. She noticed she was wearing her knight garb as well as had her saber hilts hidden. "You have changed Cecilia…I can see your resolve now," she murmured softly before turning to Han. "Where's my boyfriend?" she demanded.
Han gave Maz a bewildered look. "Chewie's working on the Falcon," he told her, placing his hands on his hips.
Maz looked at the two others standing behind Cecilia and Han. "I like that Wookie." She looked at Han and frowned slightly adjusting her glasses to look at him. "I assume you need something. Desperately. Let's get to it." Maz turned away and began walking back towards her table.
Cecilia was on edge the entire time and could feel many different emotions from the beings in the bar. She glanced out of the corner of her eye noticing a droid that seemed oddly familiar. Her body tensed watching the droid for a moment and seeing it stare at BB-8 as he rolled past. She quickly shook her head and followed after her father, Finn, and Rey unaware of the communications going on at that exact moment.
The droid Cecilia had been watching lifted a small communication device and said in binary, "Alert the Resistance. Their missing droid is here."
However, at the same time the droid was speaking, a woman who had been close to the entrance of the bar frowned as she saw BB-8. She slowly excused herself before wandering into a dark, secluded corner of the bar and lifted her own communication device. She smirked darkly speaking in an unknown language, "Inform the First Order…I've found the droid."
Cecilia sat down next to her father and stiffened as she felt something tug at the back of her mind. She swallowed thickly as she felt a sudden surge of anger and anguish. Her hazel eyes seemed to darken as she tried to fight against the dark feelings that were seeping through the bond that had seemed to reopen on Jakku. The 24 year old closed her eyes as she pushed against the negative feelings being pushed towards her as Maz and her father talked.
"A map to Skywalker himself? You're right back in the mess," Maz said to Han noticing that Cecilia wasn't paying attention the conversation that was taking place.
Han frowned slightly at Maz and motioned to BB-8. "Maz, I need you to get this droid back to Leia."
Maz frowned shaking her head at Han knowing full well the smuggler was running away from his problems. "Hmm. No. You've been running away from this fight for too long. Han, nyakee nago wadda. Go home! Both you and Cecilia need to."
"Leia doesn't want to see me," he said tightly frowning at Maz.
Finn sighed softly looking between the two. "Please. We need your help."
Rey frowned looking at everyone confused by where the conversation was going. "What fight?" she asked gazing at Maz who quickly answered her.
"The only fight! The fight against the dark side. Through the ages, I have seen evil take many forms…The Sith…The Empire… Today it is the First Order. Their shadow is spreading across the galaxy. We must face them. Fight them. All of us," Maz said passionately.
Finn narrowed his eyes at Maz. "There is no fighting against the First Order! Not one we are going to be able to win. Look around. There is no chance that we haven't been recognized already. I bet you that the First Order is on their way right-" Finn stopped short as he saw that Maz was adjusting her glasses while scrutinizing him. "What is this? What are you doing?" he demanded of Maz as she continued adjusting her glasses and climbing onto the table towards him. "Solo, what is she doing?!"
Han shrugged slightly. "I don't know, but it ain't good," he said to Finn who was trying to back away from Maz.
"If you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people. I am looking into the eyes of a man who want to run," she said to Finn.
Finn narrowed his eyes at Maz even more. "You don't know a thing about me. Where I am from. What I have seen. You don't know the First Order like I do. They'll slaughter us. We all need to run."
Maz crawled back into her seat ignoring the stunned looks on Han's and Rey's faces. She pointed to two pirates in the far corner. "You see those two? They'll trade work for transportation to the Outer Rin. There you can disappear."
Rey frowned as she watched Finn contemplate leaving. "Finn!" she exclaimed softly. She furrowed her brow as Finn turned towards her.
"Come with me," he said earnestly.
"What about BB-8? We're not done yet. We have to get him back to your base."
Finn shook his head at Rey. "I can't." He stood and went to remove the gun that Han had given him but kept it hen Han told him to.
Cecilia's eyes had been closed as she fought the darkness that she could slowly feel creeping into her mind. She had to think of the things that would stand in front of the light…like their parents…their grandfather turning to the light before he died…those who now lived a part of the living force. She felt the feelings recoil when they realized that she was pushing lighter feelings towards the darker ones. Her eyes opened as she felt something else pushing against her own Force signature. She blinked rapidly and realized that Finn had left the group and Rey was walking away from them while Maz and her father bickered about getting BB-8 home. She furrowed her brow looking in the direction that Rey was going as she heard faint cries of an anguished child. Lia swallowed feeling the Force reaching out to not only her but to Rey as well and Cecilia knew immediately…the Rey would forever be in danger unless she was trained. Cecilia can feel the presence of the Force growing stronger and changing as she stood to follow the scavenger. She gasped and caught herself against the closest wall suddenly overwhelmed by the magnitude the Force presence was as she had never felt anything like it. The blonde woman watched Maz rush past her and down the stairs to the long corridor Rey was in. Just as quick as the presence appeared, the Force presence vanished releasing Cecilia from its overwhelming hold. The blonde Jedi rushed down the stairs and watched Rey stumble out of the room that she had been in and look at Maz and herself in fear and confusion.
"What was that?!" she exclaimed from the floor before scrambling to her feet. "I shouldn't have gone in there," she muttered more to herself.
Maz was fascinated. "That lightsaber was Luke's. And his father's before him. Now, it calls to you!" Maz said in slight wonder.
Rey shook her head as Maz and Lia came closer to her. "I have to get back to Jakku."
Maz gave a small yet sad smile as she took one of Rey's hands while Lia reached down to slowly grab Rey's other hand. "Han told me. Oh, dear child. I can see your eyes. You already know the truth. Whomever you're waiting for back on Jakku…they're never coming back. However, there is someone who still could."
Rey swallowed thickly as she looked at Cecilia who seemed torn by the revelation of whose lightsaber Maz had. "Luke," she whispered softly before moving her eyes back to Maz's.
Maz gave a single nod as she continued speaking to Rey. "The belonging you seek is not behind you, Rey. It is ahead. I am no Jedi, but I know the Force. It moves through and surrounds every living thing… Close your eyes," she murmured as Maz closed her own. "Feel it… The light. It's always been there. It will guide you." Maz motioned towards the saber hilt that was still hidden in the room Rey had come from "The saber. Take it."
Rey backed away from Maz and Cecilia. "I am never touching that thing again. I don't want any part of this," she said shakily before pushing past Maz and running towards the exit of the palace.
Cecilia didn't bother looking at Maz as she clenched her fists. "Why do you still have that thing? I thought I told you to burn it…destroy it…anything. He doesn't deserve to have one after what he did and caused," she hissed at the alien. A loud gasp of pain escaped Lia's throat as she had to lean all of her body weight onto the wall to prevent herself from falling to the ground. Screams of agony, pain, horror, and dread all hit Cecilia as if she had been run over by a star cruiser. Tears quickly cascaded down her cheeks as she covered her mouth to hold back sobs while Maz quickly rushed up the stairs to see what would have caused such a reaction.
Maz looked out side in horror as she saw the aftermath of what had happened. She quickly located Han, Chewie, and Finn before dragging them downstairs to where a practically crippled Cecilia was against the wall. "I've had this for ages," she said as she went into the room Rey had found and opened the lock box to show Han and Finn as Chewie checked on Cecilia. "I've kept it locked away," she tells them holding out the hilt to them.
"Where did you get that?" Han asked wide eyed.
"A good question for another time." She held the hilt towards Finn. "Take it and find your friend," she ordered lightly. She cursed as the castle shook while Finn took the saber. "Those beasts," she hissed. "They're here."
Cecilia closed her eyes pushing away the horrible feelings she was still feeling from the shock of so many people dying. She pushed herself off of the wall and waved off Chewie's concern before looking at her father. "He's here…I can feel him," she said moving with the others towards a now ruined exit of the castle. Lia stood behind Maz as told Finn to find Rey and BB-8.
"I need a weapon," Finn exclaimed wide eyed.
Maz held up the hand holding Luke's saber. "You have one," she said shaking his hand slightly.
Finn looked at the saber in confusion and slight fear. He had never used anything other than a blaster before. Finn looked up as he felt something peaceful wash over him. His eyes widened as Cecilia walked past him while removing the hooded cloak she wore to mainly hide the two lightsabers she had attached to her belt. He watched in awe as she gracefully moved dodging blaster fire as if it was nothing while a group of First Order stormtroopers fired on her. Finn saw Cecilia stop moving as the leader of the small band of troopers made the others stop firing and grab the two hilts from her belt.
Cecilia gazed at a group of stormtroopers that had been firing at her as she grabbed her two hilts. She had grabbed the right hilt in a back handed grip while holding her left hilt in a regular grip. Lia sank down in her familiar stance while activating the teal and orange blades causing the troopers to pale in realization as to what she was.
"All units! Focus your fire on…on the Jedi!" the leader of the band of troopers exclaimed as all of the troopers began rapidly firing at Cecilia.
Cecilia smirked as she began moving allowing the presence of the Force to guide her movements of blocking, redirecting, and dodging blaster fire. She could vaguely hear Finn in a battle of his own as well as the troopers calling for more backup over their comms. Lia used the rubble around her to her advantage as she hopped and jumped and twisted using the form she had spent years practicing and mastering because she had two sabers.
-In the Forest; Takodana-
A storm trooper rushed over to Kylo Ren who was stalking in the woods towards where the girl had been last spotted. "Sir! Our numbers are getting diminished!" he exclaimed.
Kylo Ren stopped moving as he stared at the trooper with a frown under his mask. "Exactly how are they getting diminished?" he hissed softly. He could feel the presence that he had felt just earlier as well as on Jakku in the back of his mind, but he didn't want to believe it was her. He had made sure that she would feel only anguish for what had happened six years prior.
"A Jedi," the trooper spoke with slight fear of the fact they were losing men as well as what Kylo's reaction would be as there had been no Jedi since the fabled Luke Skywalker. The trooper began choking and gasping for air as he felt something constricting his throat. His gun dropped to the floor as he grasped his own throat to figure out was what wrong but soon realized Kylo was the one doing this to him.
"There are no Jedi anymore," Kylo said darkly as the trooper dropped to the ground dead with a sickening crack. He refused to believe she had come out of the anguish he had felt all those years ago, but Kylo froze feeling peace coming from the direction of the castle.
-With Cecilia; Maz's Palace Ruins; Takodana-
Lia felt as though her movements were a bit rusty, but something told her that she would quickly be using them again and again in the coming months. The 24 year old continued to move swinging her arms in large and small arcs to block and deflect blaster shots. She could feel pride coming off of her father and Chewie in waves while feeling awe and shock from Finn before he engaged in his own battle. Lia could also feel the anger and rage from the forest signaling that he was there. She pushed the rage and anger out of her mind focusing on the light and peace she felt in the Force around her. She turned her head when the last stormtrooper dropped to the ground with a deflected blaster shot in his chest. Her hazel eyes darkened as troopers surrounded her father, surrogate uncle, and Finn. She deactivated her sabers and used the Force to jump away from her opponents and into the circle of their captors. She inhaled deeply as she slowly lifted her hands up manipulating the Force around her. She listened as the Troopers cried out in shock before they were all flung away to different areas of the ruins being knocked unconscious from Lia's movement. The 24 year old turned towards the water as she heard distant roars coming steadily closer. Her eyes widened as she turned towards her father while gaining a massive smile on her face.
Han slowly brought his arms down from their raised position. "It's the Resistance," he said in realization.
