Noble sacrifice

prisky0731 asked for a oneshot of Rosie seeing Emma fake her death in front of a bunch of Regina's knights. She thinks it's real and tells their parents before Emma comes home.

Emma shoved her little sister forcefully behind her as the guards surrounded them.

"We've got you cornered girlies." One said with a sick grin. "If you don't put up a fight the Queen might be nice and let you sleep in a cell together."

"Well now see that would be lovely…if we were both going with you." Emma responded. Fourteen year old Rosie clung tightly to her big sister's tunic, she knew Emma would have a plan. "I'm the only one going with you."

"What?" Rosie yelled. "No, Emma, no!" She shook her head profusely and wrapped her arms around Emma's middle, determined to keep them together. But Emma removed Rosie's hands from around her.

"Regina's a smart lady, she knows I'm the only one out of all my siblings to have magic in the traditional sense. I'm of use to her- Rosie isn't. Taking me gets her use and hurts my parents. Taking Rosie does nothing. Let her go home- let her bring a warning to my parents about what happens when they leave their children unsupervised. Let her do your dirty work for you." Emma reasoned with them. She saw the main guard thinking this idea over. Then, slowly, he nodded.

"Fine. The little girl goes. Run kid, run and tell your parents that we have your sister. Let them know Regina's men will take real good care of her." Rosie shivered- she knew exactly what they were threatening.

"Just let me say goodbye." Emma said. "If you do I'll go without a fight." The guard nodded gruffly and Emma turned to face her little sister. She bent down so they were at eye level and the sisters embraced in a fierce hug. "Whatever you see, keep running. Promise me?" Emma whispered hastily.

"I promise." Rosie whispered back, her voice breaking with emotion. She would keep it, she had to get home to let their parents know so they could save Emma. Emma pulled back and kissed Rosie's forehead.

"I love you kid." She said, giving her a little push away. "Now run." Despite her legs feeling numb Rosie stumbled away towards the palace. She looked back, still wanting to be able to save Emma herself. That's when she saw it. Emma grabbed her sword and plunged it into her stomach.

"Emma no!" Rosie screeched, but it was too late. Emma crumpled in a heap on the floor. The main guard roared with rage before clocking onto Rosie.

"Get her!" He bellowed, he was not leaving here empty handed. Rosie wasn't thinking straight, she felt like she'd been plunged into icy cold water. All she knew was that she had to run.

Rosie didn't know when the guards stopped following her. All she knew was that when she crashed into the conference room where her parents were.

"Rosie, what's wrong?" Charming asked as both he and Snow stood up, noticing the panic in their daughter's eyes.

"Emma." Rosie choked. "Emma, Regina's guards…cornered us. They let me go. But Emma, she, she…"

"Emma what Rosie?" Snow asked, coming over and cupping Rosie's face and making Rosie look at her. They had to find out where Emma was so they could save her. Rosie's bottom lip quivered.

"She killed herself." She said quietly. Rosie still wasn't sure it could be true. Snow felt herself sway. Both she and Charming felt like their stomachs had hit the floor.

"What?" Charming gasped. "Emma's…dead?" Rosie nodded before bursting into tears and falling to her knees on the floor. Snow had her hands over her mouth and was shaking her head, no, this could not be true. Charming felt like he was going to throw up, his baby girl was dead? Nobody knew what to do, nobody could muster the energy to so much as move. That was when Emma walked into the room.

"I have a funny feeling I might have something to do with the mood in here…" She said. All three heads whipped round in her direction. It was like emotional whiplash, she wasn't dead? Rosie was over at her sister in a shot, practically rugby tackling her into a hug.

"But I saw you die!" Rosie wailed. "I saw you with that sword."

"Hey, hey it's alright." Emma said soothingly, stroking through Rosie's hair. "I used my magic, it was an illusion. I'm alright babe, I just wasn't going anywhere with them and they fell for it." Emma looked up to her shell-shocked parents. Emma gently removed Rosie's arms from around her and pulled up her tunic slightly so they could see her stomach. "See? No wound. I'm…" But Emma never got to finish her sentence before her mom was squishing her in a massive hug. "Mom! Can't breathe!" Emma complained.

"I don't care!" Snow said, although she did loosen her hold slightly as she placed a hand on the back of Emma's head. "Emma never do that again!"

"Seconded." Charming agreed with his wife, creating a group hug. He stroked Emma's cheek. Charming pulled Rosie over to join the hug. "Neither of you are leaving this palace for, well, ever." Charming told them. The incident had been far too scary for all of them.
