Just fish?!
toots1 asked for a oneshot of Emma getting embarrassed after feeling like she's failed in her royal duty. Her parents have to reassure her that she'll be a good Queen.
Guest who asked for Neal getting upset because he gets a little sister: this has been too closely covered, sorry. The same goes for the guest asking for Emma first telling her parents she loves them. And the guest who asked for Snowing finding out Emma is claustrophobic I'm afraid that's already been too closely covered.
"I'm so sorry Poseidon," Snow said, watching as Emma sprinted from the room. "This was her first time trying to take charge in a royal meeting. The pressure must have gotten to her. She didn't mean to imply that your people are simply food." Snow apologised, both her and Charming cringing inside. One of the key issues between Atlantica and the Enchanted Forest was how much fish was caught and consumed. Emma may have accidentally implied that it didn't really matter- they were just brainless fish. Poseidon held up a hand passively.
"It's quite alright, Snow White. I understand. Ursula made a similar error at her first royal meeting." Poseidon accepted her apology. "We can finish this another day. Go after her."
"Thank you." Charming said, quickly shaking the sea king's hand before the parents raced after their daughter. It wasn't long before they found her in her bedroom, crying into her pillow.
"That was so humiliating!" Emma wailed. "I can't believe I said that. I can't ever do meetings with them now. He'll always remember what I said today. What's the point in all these royal meetings? I won't ever be Queen." Emma just sounded so defeated, it broke her parents' hearts.
"Oh sweetie, you're going to make a wonderful queen." Charming tried to encourage his daughter. "You're young, you're going to make mistakes. That's alright, you know. Mistakes are how we learn. What you need to do is dust yourself off and get back up. You've learned something from this meeting: you've learned to be tactful when discussing fish with Poseidon, or any merfolk for that matter. That's a lesson you won't soon forget." Snow stroked through Emma's hair.
"You think I was a natural at all the diplomatic stuff? Honey, I nearly caused a war by accidentally screaming at a frog during a meeting with Princess Tiana and saying that I hated frogs, thinking that they were slimy disgusting creatures. I tried to kill it with a broom. Apparently Tiana and her husband Naveen love frogs…" Snow said with an embarrassed smile. Snow was happy that her little memory managed to make her daughter smile too. She kissed Emma's cheek as Charming did the same on Emma's other side.
"You'll get there baby, promise." Charming told her.
"Thanks guys." Emma said, already feeling a little more hopeful about her future as the ruler of the Enchanted Forest. But maybe steering clear of any rulers with animal issues for a while.
