Chapter 11

There were times in Jessica's life where she absolutely hated things that had happened to her or her family or her loved ones. There were other times where she was happy with the results that came out from what happened. This was one of the times, however, where Jessica didn't know if she hated her life or if she was happy with it. There were two Originals upstairs right now arguing and breaking an ungodly number of things. She rubbed her temples desperately needing some kind of drink. The dark haired vampire looked up at the ceiling glaring. "If you two could please act like civilized men for two seconds, then maybe we could move on from the situation. I killed someone. That is not going to be the last person that I kill. Now, someone needs to tell me where the liquor cabinet is before I rip this house apart and not put it back together just to find the liquor. You both are giving me a migraine," Jessica snapped growling lowly. There was a moment of silence before both Originals appeared in the kitchen with Jessica while Klaus had a large bottle of bourbon. Jessica snatched the bottle from him and poured herself a glass before downing it in seconds. Ignoring the burn, she glared at both men. "Now, what is the plan for today?" Jessica asked them.

"Your aunt is quite worried about you. She understands that you need space, but she is quite worried…as are Jeremy and Elena," Elijah said slowly watching Jessica. "Perhaps it would be a good idea to give them a call to let them know you are okay." The suited Original watched Jessica for a long moment seeing her sigh heavily before nodding. "Now, on a different matter, Jonas and Luka have looked into the special potion I have for Elena…they were able to make sure it will work for her."

Jessica smiled faintly messing with her short hair. After she had gotten it cut the first time, she had kept up with the bob length. Her hazel eyes met the lighter ones of Klaus as she stayed quiet trying to figure out the words to say. "I know you want to release your curse now, but if I know my aunt…she is not going to let you touch Elena until my sister turns 18."

Klaus growled as he began glaring at Jessica. He opened his mouth to speak but was stopped when Jessica held up a hand.

"No. Don't look at me like that. You have waited over 1000 years. You can wait a few more months," Jessica snapped at the blonde Original. "My sister has learned a lot in the last few months. She has learned to not be so dependent on the Salvatores. Rose is protecting her and the other members of my family." Jessica bit her lip lightly as she sipped at her drink before looking at Klaus. "We need to have a discussion before we do anything else today," she murmured softly. The immortal swallowed seeing Elijah's frown out of the corner of her eye. "Alone," she finished looking at the suit wearing Original.

Elijah came over to her and murmured, "I am a call or text away if you end up needing me, Jessica," he said slowly. When he was satisfied by her nod, he vanished from the house as a sign he was trusting her.

Jessica looked at Klaus as she put her cup on the counter as she tried to put her thoughts in order. "The first time we met…you compelled me to forget…why?" she asked not looking away from him.

Klaus was quiet for a long moment. He didn't know how to explain it. "Now, Love, why is that such a big deal? I let you remember, right?"

Jessica blushed faintly. "No, you didn't let me remember because I ingest vervain meaning you couldn't compel me. All you did was tell me what happened at least from your point of view. Then, there is the bullshit that happened last night. You got mad at me for speaking the truth." She blinked seeing Klaus glare at her. "There you go again Klaus. Look, for some reason something in me is saying that I should understand you better and get to know you. I can't if you do this…where one minute you look as though you're going to eat me alive and the next you look ready to kill me. I may not remember everything that happened that first time we met, but the feeling I felt was something I have never felt before with anyone. I want to feel that again, Klaus, but I don't know if that is a smart idea right now."

Klaus' glare slowly melted away as he came around the counter and stood in front of her. He gazed down at her and murmured, "And why is that, Love?"

Jessica shivered slightly as she gazed up at him. "I have been a vampire less than six months, Klaus. I still have so much to get used to. Plus, I was turned at 15. I will forever have the body of a 15 year old. Maybe, one day, I won't feel 15 anymore because I'll be stuck like this forever, but right now…I want to be a teenager. I want to go out and party like a teenager. I want to break rules. I want to have a teenage love story. I want to get over the trauma I have been through so I can become stronger than I am now. I may have all of this physical strength, but I am so broken Klaus. I don't even know if I can be fixed." Jessica's voice lowered to a whisper as she tried to hide the emotions that were swirling inside of her. Her hazel eyes gazed into Klaus' blue ones and something felt different as she watched him.

Klaus slowly reached up stroking her right cheek as he absorbed what she was saying. "There is no way that you are broken," he murmured. He understood what she was saying, but he wasn't used to waiting for anything he wanted. However, the Original could tell that she was being truly sincere unlike many of the lovers he had had over the years. Something felt different whenever he was around her. He would have to ask Maddox to look into it for him, so he understood why. "I am not normally one to wait so long," he whispered softly to her.

"Maybe you can learn a little patience," Jess quipped quietly. She blushed heavily as she pulled away from Klaus as Elijah cleared his throat while holding her ringing phone. Jessica sighed heavily as she turned towards Elijah to take her phone from him. The hazel eyed immortal furrowed her brow slightly as she looked at the screen to see that Elena was calling her. "Elena?" she asked softly.

"Jess! I know you need a little bit of alone time, but we have a slight issue," Elena said trying to still sound calm. She swallowed thickly and closed her eyes as a couple of tears escaped her eyes. "Something happened to Rose and Jeremy," she murmured.

Jessica stilled. "What happened to them?" she whispered as her eyes darkened. She held onto the counter tightly doing her best to control her anger but ended up breaking the counter with her strength as Elena spoke again.

"They were ambushed. Jeremy should wake up soon because of his ring, but Rose…Jess, I am so sorry, but Rose didn't make it," Elena cried out as she let out a soft sob. Elena had grown to admire Rose. She had seen her like another aunt…one who was willing to do anything to protect the three of them. The doppelgänger whimpered softly while still holding the phone. However, Elena knew that Jess had also bonded with Rose in a way she hadn't been able to.

"Who…who did it?" Jess bit out.

"Jules, the wolf that took Caroline," Elena whispered ligthly.

Jess felt her body go numb from the news. Her emotions began to go haywire as she pictured Rose and her brother dead. Jeremy had the Gilbert family ring, but Rose…she didn't have anything other than her vampire abilities. The young immortal put her phone down onto the heavily cracked counter as she turned throwing a heavy crystal vase full of water and flowers against the wall as she gave a loud, yet pain filled scream. She panted heavily as she realized her vision was blurry from something. Jess watched as water slid down the wall for a single second before she grabbed the closest item to her which was one of the bar stools and slammed it into the couch causing the frame of the couch to crack loudly and the bar stool to split in two. Screams of pain and rage escaped her throat as she continued to grab different items in the living room and kitchen. The brunette didn't realize that Klaus had stopped Elijah from going to comfort her as her emotions were too much for her to even try to stay still. Jessica had seen Rose as a second mother especially because Rose taught her so many different things about being a vampire and surviving in this world as an immortal. A soft whine escaped her throat as she looked around seeing all of the furniture broken, the walls cracked and dented, and Elijah and Klaus looking at her in shock and sympathy. The youngest Gilbert felt her knees buckle as Klaus rushed around the island to catch her. She clung to Klaus' arms sobbing into his chest at the loss of Rose as the anger and shock wore off leaving only the pain and hollowness.

Klaus looked at Elijah with a dark look in his eyes. "Kill the werewolf. I'll find another one," he growled out softly as he rubbed Jessica's back slowly trying to soothe her. The blue eyes Original moved Jessica slowly and picked her up in his arms while moving her back upstairs to the room she had stayed the night in previously.

Jessica continued sobbing in Klaus' arms hiding her face in his chest as she tightly gripped his shirt leaving tear stains on the fabric. After almost two hours of Jessica crying into Klaus, her tears slowly dried up. The dark haired immortal clung to the body of the Original as she listened to the heartbeat in his chest causing her to frown slightly. She swallowed thickly and blinked rapidly for a moment feeling her eyes grow heavy. She needed to go home and check on her family, but at the same time, Jessica couldn't leave Klaus' arms as she felt safe and warm for the first time in a long time.

"Jessica," Klaus murmured lightly trying to coax her more awake. "You need to feed. Elijah is back and has blood bags for you," he said softly in her ear. He lifted her chin as she moved her head up slightly before wiping away the excess tears. "I, also, hear someone else downstairs for you."

Jessica furrowed her brow slightly as her eyes were still red and swollen from crying the last two hours. She focused her hearing to downstairs and went wide eyed hearing her brother's voice.

"I know Jess had grown close to Rose, so I think that she will really like these," Jeremy told Elijah.

Jessica got out of Klaus' arms shakily and vanished using her speed to get downstairs. She stopped in front of her older brother causing him to jump before she jumped on him giving a tight hug without crushing him as fresh tears began streaming down her cheeks. "Don't you dare die on me again," she ordered softly through her tears.

Jeremy had jumped when Jessica suddenly appeared as he wasn't fully used to having Jess be a vampire yet. He went wide eyed as she tackled him in a tight hug and quickly wrapped hi arms around her. She may be a vampire and out live him, but Jessica was his baby sister. He hated seeing her cry like this. "Jess, I'm okay. I'm here. I'm alive," he murmured to her.

Jessica whimpered softly and hid her face in his neck as she held onto him tighter. "If you didn't have that ring, you would have…" she trailed off unable to finish the sentence. She didn't want to think about what would happen if she lost her older brother. Jess had a feeling that if Jeremy had actually died, she would probably turn her emotions off. Jess gave a soft whimper as she held Jeremy tighter.

Jer gave a sad smile as he stroked her hair. "Don't worry okay. I have the ring. I won't give it up," he murmured softly to her. "Now, why don't we head back to Mystic Falls?" he asked gently as he pulled away from her. His brown eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed at the man standing by the door to the kitchen. "You must be Klaus," he said slowly.

Klaus gave a charming, charismatic smile to the male Gilbert. "You must be Jeremy." Klaus noticed an open sketchbook on the broken counter and rose an eyebrow as he pushed off the wall to look them over. "You're quite the artist," he praised seeing a beautiful portrait of Jessica with Rose-Marie.

Jessica pulled away from her brother and saw the picture going wide eyed before looking at him. "When did you do this?" she asked gently.

"This morning…once I woke up as well as on my way here. I thought you would like to have a picture of her with you," Jeremy said as he kissed Jessica's temple. He swallowed blushing faintly as he saw Klaus begin looking through the sketchbook showing the different types of media and styles Jeremy was able to do.

Klaus hummed faintly as he became absorbed in Jeremy's sketchbook nodding to himself. The male Gilbert was very talented and had a lot of promise. "These are all very good. Did you recently start this? Or has this been a hobby for a while?" he asked Jeremy who blushed brightly.

"Jer-bear started in elementary school. He never took any actual classes, but he did experiment over the years…I haven't seen him draw since our parents died," Jessica answered for Jeremy looking like a proud sister.

Klaus hummed softly. "Well, I looked forward to seeing more from you. Now, I want to meet your dear sister…to perhaps discuss an arrangement for this ritual I need to complete," he said as he closed the sketchbook and slid it back over to Jeremy.
