His father's sword
Jade Star asked for a oneshot of Emma and Killian's son Liam asking Snowing about his parents on the 10th anniversary of their death. Charming gives him his father's sword.
Liam paced up and down in the hallway, trying to build up the courage to go in and talk to his grandparents. It was now or never, he knew that. Liam knew that the subjects of his parents- especially his mother- was a tricky one for them. But Liam was desperate to know more about them than the odd piece of information here or there or the photo album he had upstairs in his room. He had nobody else to ask that could give as much information. Henry had left Storybrooke for college years ago and rarely came back, it was just too painful for him. Neal was too young when they died to remember much himself. No, it had to be his grandparents and it had to be tonight. Surely ten years was long enough? Liam tentatively came into the living room.
"Grandma? Grandpa? Can we talk?" He asked quietly.
"Of course sweetie. What's up? Trouble at school?" His grandma asked. Liam shook his head.
"No. It's just…I wanted to know…my parents- would they have been proud of me?" He asked, heart hammering against his rib cage. He could already see the flicker of pain in their eyes that came up whenever he mentioned his parents. They must have either forgotten or were trying not to remember that it was exactly ten years today.
"Of course they would have buddy. They would have been so proud of the young man you've become." Charming answered him. He then got up from where he was sitting. "In fact, I have something that I think is high time was given to its rightful owner." Charming left and when he came back he was carrying a glistening sword. "Liam David Jones, this sword belonged to your father. After he and your mother passed it was one of the few possessions that we found." Charming held the sword out to Liam. "I know they would have wanted you to have it." Liam swallowed the lump in his throat as he reached out and carefully took the weapon. It was a lot heavier than he had anticipated. "I will show you how to use it properly. You're going to be quite the little knight, Liam." Liam smiled down at the sword- his father's sword. And somehow he knew that his parents were smiling back at him from wherever they were.
