Just three little words
Cindy asked for a oneshot of Snow eavesdropping on Emma and Killian's bed scene in 4x22 and later asking why she couldn't say "I love you" to him.
Sassiesara hail: I'm afraid I can't remember the chapter number but I've already covered this request.
Alex I know your request is on here somewhere too!
"Ok, spit it out." Emma sighed as she joined her mom in the booth at Granny's. Snow looked at her daughter, confused. "Don't play stupid mom, I can tell you've got something you want to talk to me about. You keep doing that weird thing where you open your mouth constantly like a goldfish." Emma said with a slight smile. "Just tell me. After having me locked in a tower because you thought I was crazy I don't think I'll be offended."
"Again, sorry about that." Snow said sheepishly. "It's just…earlier when you found out Killian was alive and the pair of you were upstairs…I couldn't help overhearing…"
"Couldn't help or didn't want to try?" Emma asked. Snow smiled at her daughter and held her hands up in mock defence.
"Alright, you got me. Call it a mother's curiosity. The point is, I know you wanted to say that you loved him- what stopped you?" Emma suddenly found stirring her hot chocolate very fascinating.
"I still find trusting people difficult." She said quietly. "I was worried if I told him he wouldn't feel the same way and I would frighten him away. I don't want to lose him- not again." Snow's heart broke for her daughter. Her walls had been her only defence in a cruel world, but now they were her final obstacle between herself and a happy ending. Snow reached across the booth and tilted Emma's chin up so they were making eye contact.
"Emma, Killian is crazy about you." Snow reminded her. "He isn't going to run away, he loves you too. Honey you need to try and open yourself up a little more. I know it's tricky but it's the only way this is going to work."
"But what if it doesn't work? What if I get hurt again like I did with Neal and Graham? I don't ever want to feel like that again." Snow stroked her thumb down Emma's cheek.
"You're not going to, I promise. You don't have to do it right now- not even tonight if you're feeling too overwhelmed, but at some point soon I think that it's important you do. For both you and Killian." Emma sighed, she knew that her mom was right. Moms tended to be.
