Percy
If I thought the first month after we got back from the quest was hard, the second with Annabeth gone is impossible. She won't answer her cell phone, she won't return my emails, and no one at either camp or her mortal family knows where she is. And she won't accept any Iris messages. She's a ghost.
Each week that goes by makes it harder. I focus on fire training as hard as I can, but whenever I get home to our apartment I feel so alone without her I can't stand it. After week two, I give up on trying to keep it clean. Week three I only go there to sleep, spending whatever free time I have anywhere else. By the end of week 4, I can't take it anymore. I do what I swear I'd never do and decide to get so shitfaced drunk I can't see straight. Using the fake ID that Leo made all of us in case we ever had an adult demigod emergency in the mortal world, or as I'm sure he really meant, we wanted to get shitfaced, I head to the nearest bar.
When I get there it's loud and crowded. A lot of older adults trying to drown their sorrows mixed in with a lot of teenagers who have fake IDs trying to party it up and every college kid in between. I ignore it all and take a seat. The bartender comes over a minute later rubbing a glass.
"What'll you have?" He asks. I toss my ID and debit card on the counter.
"Whatever's strong. Start a tab."
"Wife troubles?"
"How'd you know I'm married?"
"Ring."
"Oh. Well, yeah."
"Good old fashioned Jack Daniels coming up then." He says and rummages under the counter for a bottle. "Need any chasers?" He asks. I shrug.
"Probably."
"Here's some coke then too. I'll leave the whiskey bottle with you." He says and sets it and a glass of coke down on the counter in front of me and goes off to attend another customer.
The first drink makes me cough as it burns my throat. The next one isn't much better, but the third one is. By the time I get to 6 I don't need the chasers anymore. When I get to 10 I'm actually starting to feel pretty good. I get some Pizza on board, and life's feeling pretty great. Then I get to 12, and have to go to the bathroom to puke my guts up. I'm stumbling out the bathroom door when I almost fall into someone.
"Percy?" I hear a girl's voice say. I lean against the wall holding my head.
"Oh gods." I slur. "I'm sorry." Looking up at the girl, my vision is swimming, but my heart starts hammering in my chest. "Annabeth!" I say. I might not be able to see very clearly, and the lighting is shitty but it looks like her.
"Uhh…yeah. It's me." She says, and I take the two steps to wrap her in the tightest hug I possibly can. Something feels…off, but I don't care. I'm drunk, and She's here. After a second she returns the embrace and I pull my head back just far enough to kiss her.
"Let's go home. Please, Wise Girl, come home with me." I beg. She stands on her tip toes and kisses me again.
"I'd like nothing better."
