What happens now?

Ouatlover asked for a oneshot of Henry's reaction to finding out Emma had sacrificed herself. I've included Dancing4every1's request of Henry and Charming talking through the impact Emma's transformation would have.

"I know that it's a lot to take in." Charming said, placing a reassuring hand on his young grandson's shoulder, "but we're going to sort this, I promise you that Henry."

"But until we can find Merlin mom is the dark one?" Henry croaked. "And even if you do find him, there's no guarantee that he'll be able to take the darkness out of mom-"

"Hey, don't talk like that." Charming gently interrupted him. "Merlin will take the darkness from your mother, your grandma and I will not stop until he does."

"Is this my fault?" Henry asked quietly. "I'm the new Author, and I snapped the quill. If I still had it I could find a way to make some ink and take the darkness from Emma…"

"Don't even think about blaming yourself. Merlin is to blame for making it so that there has to be a Dark One and as such he will be the one to fix it. The first thing we need to do is find your mom. We don't know where she's gone and we only want to use the dagger as a last resort. We don't want her to feel like we can control her." Charming explained. Henry nodded, understanding.

"What will she be like when she comes back?" He asked. "Will she still be her?" Charming wanted to tell his grandson yes, that Emma wouldn't be effected by the dagger at all- but that would be a lie.

"I honestly don't know, buddy." He answered him. "The only comparison we have is your other grandpa, and he was also affected by his own personality. Emma is different from him, so the dagger may affect her differently. Judging by what your other mom said about how she reacted when Lily threatened me and your grandma she may become fiercely and dangerously overprotective of all of us."

"And since she's the Dark One she won't hesitate to kill." Henry said, knowing what his grandpa was thinking. Charming didn't respond- he couldn't think of his daughter as a heartless killer. "Whatever happens, things won't be the same when we find her." Henry said sadly, he'd lost his mom whatever happened.

"Not until we find Merlin." Charming said, trying to keep the boy's hopes alive. "Then they will be. Just, stay strong for her Henry. That's what she would want." Henry nodded bravely, even though he didn't feel very strong. He would try to be, for her.
