Karaoke
Guest100 asked for a oneshot of Snowing getting Emma and Killian to do karaoke together and Charming gets overprotective because Emma sings "Wonderland" by Natalia Kills.
Yazmin, 123 and Baird A name: your requests have been too closely covered.
noel: I'm afraid I'm not quite sure how that would work.
And I've just realised I've now been writing this little oneshot series for over a year *releases party popper*. Thank you to you all for keeping it going :).
"Go on Em, you might as well, your dad and I did." Snow encouraged her daughter.
"Yeah, and sang wind beneath my wings and nearly had me throwing up. Karaoke's just so stupid. I can't even sing!"
"None of us can, that's the fun. Go on, Killian's never done karaoke before. Give him a chance to embarrass himself. The machine's only at Granny's tonight for their Japanese themed night." Charming said, picking up another piece of sushi with his chopsticks.
"Yeah, I quite fancy a shot with that loud voice maker." Killian added. Emma rolled her eyes.
"Microphone." She corrected him. "If it'll shut you all up I'll do one sing with you, deal?" Killian smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Deal." He agreed. Emma begrudgingly got up from the booth and walked over with Killian to Sneezy, who was operating the machine.
"Hi guys, what song?" He asked them. Emma shrugged her shoulders in response.
"Whatever. Something short preferably." She wanted people staring at her for as little an amount of time as possible.
"Alright, randomizer it is." Sneezy said, handing the pair the mics. Charming put his arm around Snow and both smiled encouragingly at Emma. Emma rolled her eyes as the song came up on the screen: "Up" by Olly Murs (feat. Demi Lovato). It was quite a modern one for Storybrooke, they must have updated the machine.
"So you sing the lines in blue and I sing the ones in pink. We sing the ones in purple together." Emma quickly explained. Killian nodded, focusing on the screen.
"I drew a broken heart
Right on your window pane
Waited for your reply
Here in the pouring rain
Just breathe against the glass
Leave me some kind of sign
I know the hurt won't pass, yeah
Just tell me it's not the end of the line
Just tell me it's not the end of the line…"
By the end of the song even Emma was getting into it- swaying slightly to the rhythm of the music. As the music finally faded you could have heard a pin drop in the diner, well, until the whole place burst into applause.
"And you said you couldn't sing." Killian said, grinning at Emma. She rolled her eyes in response.
"I can't." She said stubbornly. "Anyway, you've had your one song, let's go sit back down now…"
"Hold your horses." Killian said, quickly grabbing Emma's hand. "I have a proposition for you." Emma raised an eyebrow.
"I'm listening."
"Well, if you sing one song by yourself for me, I'll do the dishes for a month." Emma smiled.
"Deal." And she had just the song. Killian smiled smugly to himself as he joined Emma's parents back in the booth and Emma went up to Sneezy and told him the song.
"What's going on?" Charming asked him.
"Emma and I made a deal- if she sings a song for me I'll do the dishes for a month." He explained. Snow and Charming nodded, settling down to listen- they loved Emma's voice. But Emma was sure she would come off better in this deal. The song was innocent enough that she wouldn't come off looking awful, but naughty enough that there was no way her dad would let her finish it. She flashed a final grin over to Killian before the song began.
"I'm not Snow White,
but I'm lost inside this forest.
I'm not Red Riding Hood,
but I think the wolves have got me.
Don't want your stilettos!
I'm not, not Cinderella..
I don't need a knight,
so baby take off all your armour!
You be the beast,
and I'll be the beauty beauty.
Who needs true love,
as long as you love me truly?
I want it all,
but I want ya more!
Will you wake me up boy
if I bite your poison apple?
I don't believe in fairy tales..
I don't believe in fairy tales..
I don't believe in fairy tales,
but I believe in you and me!
Take me ta' Wonderland!
take me ta' take me ta'
take me ta' Wonderland!
take me ta' take me ta'
take me ta' Wonderland!..."
And sure enough, the machine became unplugged. Charming was unable to stomach both the mischievous grin on Hook's face and the sultry looks Emma was giving over to Hook.
"Right, someone else's turn." He grumbled, pulling Emma back to the booth and wedging her in between the wall and him (keeping her away from Hook's wandering hand). Emma flashed her own grin over to her boyfriend, the smile having one clear meaning: have fun doing the dishes.
