Trypanophobia
RoseRed asked for a oneshot of Emma being afraid of needles and trying to hide it when Snow comes to the Doctor with her. But Emma is only able to get the shot whilst hiding her face in Snow's shoulder. Emma gets embarrassed and threatens the Doctor over telling anyone.
"This is stupid. There's no need for me to be here let's just go before he gets back…" Emma once again tried to get up off the hospital bed but once again found her mom pulling her back down.
"Emma you got bit by a stray dog! You are getting a tetanus shot and that is final." She told her.
"I'd hardly say bit- it was more of a scrape." Emma grumbled. "I don't need the stupid shot- I've had it already." Emma tried. She didn't want to tell her mom the real reason behind not wanting the injection.
"Yes, but your medical records show it was over five years ago so you need a booster. It's just one shot and then we can go, I don't see why you're in such a rush. But whatever your reason you're not leaving this room until you've had that shot, understood?"
"Oh fine, whatever." Emma grumbled. She was just going to have to grin and bear it.
Just a couple of minutes later, Whale came back into the room- needle in one hand and a clipboard in the other.
"Alright Emma, I see you're here for a tetanus after a dog bite. I see one of our nurses has already cleaned that up and bandaged it, so all I need to do is give you this shot for a precaution and you can be on your way. If you could hold out the arm without the bite please…"
"Hell no." Emma said, suddenly unable to face it. Whale and Snow looked at her, both confused. "I'm afraid of needles, ok?" She snapped. "I hate them." Now Snow understood the reluctance to stay. Snow tilted Emma's chin so she was looking at her.
"Emma that needles a heck of a lot less to deal with than what you would be if you get tetanus." She said gently. "So, you're going to look at me and not even look at the needle and it'll all be over in a second, ok? I'll hold the other hand. It's going to be alright." Snow nodded for Whale to come over with the needle. Emma couldn't do it even looking at her mom. Instead, she burrowed her head against Snow's shoulder- she really hated needles. Snow wrapped her hand around Emma's head protectively as Whale placed the needle in Emma's arm. Emma gave a little yelp as it was pressed in, but no sooner was it in her arm than it was out again.
"There," Snow said soothingly, taking her arms off of Emma "done. You did well, honey."
"That's you Miss Swan, no reason to hang around. Do let us know if you're feeling unwell though so we can check if that bite has had any other implications." Emma nodded, suddenly feeling mortified about hiding behind her mom over a stupid Neal…and Emma didn't cope with embarrassment well.
"Whale." Emma said dangerously. The Doctor turned around and looked at Emma. "Tell anyone about how I reacted today and I will cut your tongue right out of your mouth." She threatened.
"Emma!" Snow yelled as Whale paled.
"Um I assure you that everything is kept confidential." Whale assured Emma.
"Doctor Whale I am so sorry." Snow said. "She's just embarrassed. I promise she didn't mean anything." Whale just gave a brisk nod before leaving quickly. Snow fixed Emma with a stern look. "I know you're a bit embarrassed, but that's no reason to threaten the Doctor." She chastised her. Emma just shrugged her shoulders. It was simply a clever way to tell him to bite his tongue…or so Emma thought.
