Chapter 25: The Horse on Fire!

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

After their little nap they all started on their way to try and find Naraku.

"Ugh!" Kagome groaned after about half an hour of walking. "Did I ever mention that I hate walking?"

The others chuckled at her but did not disagree as Inuyasha moved to stand in front of Kagome and crouched down.

"Hop on, wench." Inuyasha said and waited for her to do as he said.

He didn't have to tell her twice as Kagome squealed in happiness and jumped on Inuyasha's back for a ride.

They walked in silence in what they hoped was the right direction.

"Do you even know where you're going dog-breath?" Koga asked after another thirty minutes of walking.

"Shut up!" Inuyasha barked out. "Can't you smell his stench or is your nose broken?"

Before Koga could answer a bored sound voice hit the air.

"Finally!" The voice said before stepping out of the shadows of the trees. "I was so bored I thought I was about to die."

The owner of the voice looked to be a small boy with white hair and purple eyes. Inuyasha tapped Kagome's thigh indicating that he wanted her to hop down, he did not like the bad feeling that was forming in his gut.

"Who the hell are you?" Koga growled out. "Get out of our way or prepare to die!"

The boy smirked as he raised his arm up and snapped his fingers, out of the shadows came a huge white horse with bright red and orange flames for a mane and tail.

Inuyasha didn't like this situation one bit and quickly took out his sword to unleash his wind scar, but it was too late, the horse took off to the skies with the boy on his back.

"What the hell is that thing!?" Kagome squawked out as they all stared in horror up towards where the horse had taken off.

"Dunno, but he's going to die." Inuyasha said as he let go another wind scar only to watch in shock as it bounced off an invisible shield.

"What the-?" Inuyasha muttered.

"What the hell just happened?" Miroku yelled.

Kagome squinted her eyes then gasped. "He's using a barrier!"

"Shit." Sango cursed; they all knew they were in serious trouble if they couldn't break the barrier in time.

Before anyone could think of what to do a burst of fire came flaming their way, they barely jumped away in time to avoid getting burned alive.

"Don't bother fighting the inevitable, you all are going to die by the end of this, so don't fight it." Hakudoshi said with his bored tone as another blast of fire came their way.

"Shuddup!" Inuyasha shouted jumping out of the way of the red-hot flames as he brought up his sword once more and let loose his wind scar only for it to, once again, bounce off the invisible barrier that Hakudoshi had around him and the horse.

Kagome notched an arrow in her bow, aimed it at the boy and let it go flying toward the boy behind the shield only to watch as it hit the shield and fall useless to the ground.

Sango then heaved and threw her giant boomerang to the barrier watching it as it bounced off and came back at her to fast for her to do anything and ended up getting hit and knocked out by her own weapon.

"Sango! No!" Miroku cried out then took some sutras out and sent them at the boy, he watched as they connected to the barrier but shock tore through his body as the sutras went up in flames turning to nothing but ash.

"Fox Fire!" Shippo shouted sending blue flames toward the horse and boy but to his dismay his fire surrounded the barrier then burnt out leaving an intact barrier and unburnt boy behind. "Oh man, I wasn't strong enough." He whimpered prompting Kagome to bend down and whisper that he did his best and did a great job to him.

"What the hell are we supposed to do?" Miroku shouted as he looked back toward the still unconscious Sango.

Kagome furrowed her brows as she racked her brain trying to figure out how to get out of this situation as another fire ball came at them again. Miroku quickly grabbed up Sango and made a quick dash out of the flames reaches.

Kagome came up with an idea and gasped. "Inuyasha send another wind scar at the boy again!"

"What? Why? You know it won't work." Inuyasha grumbled not understanding why Kagome thought that this time would be any different than the other times he tried.

"Just do it, Inuyasha!" Kagome ordered.

Inuyasha grumbled some before positioning his sword and unleashing one more wind scar, at the same time Kagome notched back an arrow, aimed and let go. They all watched as Inuyasha's wind scar and Kagome's arrow seemed to dance together before coming one and turning Inuyasha's normally yellow wind scar red right before it made contact with Hakudoshi's barrier.

"What the - no!" Hakudoshi screamed as his barrier broke down and he was left defenseless because he only had enough strength to make only one barrier a day. "You bastards!"

Before anyone could do or say anything another fire ball was thrown in their direction all leaping out of the way just in the nick of time.

"Wind scar!" Inuyasha called out releasing yet another wind scar that was quickly followed by Kagome's arrow, Miroku's sutras and Shippo's fox fire. With every one's combined attacks, Hakidoshi was unable to fight them all off and was ultimately destroyed along with his horse.

"Now that that's over, let's get going." Inuyasha grumbled prompting everyone to start walking again. Inuyasha walked in front of Kagome before crouching down so she could jump on his back once again.

After walking for about another hour, Sango stopped in her tracks and stared wide eyed with her mouth open in shock.

"Who's that?" Kagome asked not noticing Sango's reaction.

"Sango are you okay?" Miroku asked making Inuyasha turn around to see what was happening.

"Kohaku."
