Chapter 27: A dive into Kagura and Kanna
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha
"No! Damn it! No!" Naraku screamed punching Kanna's magic mirror, in which he was watching Sango and Kohaku being revived through. "Damn that Kagome! What do I have to do to fucking get rid of her!?" He said as he started pacing with his arms crossed over is chest and a look of deep concentration etched into his features.
Kagura watched Naraku as he paced the ship's deck as Kanna stared blankly at her broken mirror. "Well, what did you expect?" Kagura asked fed up with this whole thing and really regretting her decision to join his team. "None of your ideas have worked! Everyone has been killed, and I don't want us to be next!" She looked at her sister, not wanting to watch her die at the hands of Inuyasha and Kagome. "We are out, we will pay you monthly payments just like we were doing before all of this!"
Before Kagura could even start walking away a tentacle wrapped tightly around her throat and drug her to where she was face, a face that Naraku took great pleasure at the absolute terrified expression painted on her face, to face with Naraku's evil snarl.
"You will do as I say!" Naraku yelled in her face before throwing her harshly several feet back until her back hit the rail on the deck.
"And what do you suggest we do?" Kagura asked sarcastically as she wiped away some blood that dribbled past her lips.
"I suggest you two go, find them and end their fucking lives!" Naraku screamed at her.
"Yeah, sure buddy, I'm not letting my sister, nor I get killed because of you!" Kagura said as she pushed herself off the railing. "Come on, Kanna, let's blow this pop cycle stand."
Kagura started walking with her sister following behind her still looking at her broken mirror in her hands, but Naraku stopped them by swinging a tentacle at them and sending them flying before crashing down on the ground.
"You have one out of three choices; one: you can go kill those bastards! Two: those said bastards kill you! Or three: I kill you and just be done with it! Those are your only three options, you get no other choice! You walked on this ship for a reason and now you're not leaving unless you want to be killed by my hands!" Naraku threatened as he slowly walked towards them.
Kagura looked at Kanna before sighing as she stood up then helped Kanna up and nodded her head toward Naraku silently telling him that she would do as he wanted.
Leaving the boat, Kagura and Kanna began their walk towards where Inuyasha and the others set up their camp.
"Kagura, what are we doing?" Kanna asked in her monotone voice as she walked behind her older sister.
"What else? We are going to go fight Inuyasha and the others, just like Naraku wants." Kagura said.
"But what if we die?" Kanna asked.
Kagura stopped without warning, causing Kanna to bump into her. "I don't have another choice, Kanna. Look, if you don't want to go then just get out of here." She said then continued walking forward.
"Why do you always do what Naraku says?" Kanna asked following her sister again. "You've never been the one to take orders from anyone before."
"You don't have to worry about that." Kagura answered.
"But why?" Kanna pushed on wanting answers for her sister's behavior towards Naraku.
"Drop it Kanna." Kagura hissed between her teeth.
"No." Kanna said still in her monotone voice. "I want to know why you put up with Naraku and do everything he says when you've never did that before with anyone else."
Kagura stopped walking, bowed her head towards the ground and balled up her hands into fists. "Because Kanna, he has my heart." She whispered.
"What?" Kanna questioned.
"He has my heart."
"Why did you give him your heart?" Kanna asked.
"That is what we used as a 'make sure he's going to get his payment' kind of thing." Kagura whispered still looking towards the ground.
Kanna knew what she was talking about, before she made her deal with Naraku - which the deal was her being able to use the mirror to look into the future as well as being able to see where people were and what they were doing, and she could also summon a huge mirror demon - she was a happy, full of life girl who loved expressing herself through her voice and the bright vibrant colors she wore as clothing and hair colors. However, once she made her deal with Naraku, her 'make sure he's going to get his payment' was her love of colors and her expressive voice leaving her with white clothing, white and an expressionless voice. Though, it was obvious to everyone that knew Kanna before she made her deal what her 'make sure he's going to get his payment' thing was, she never knew what her sister had to give Naraku in order to receive her gift.
"Just like you had to give up your love of color and your expressive personality to receive that mirror and your gifts connecting to it, I had to give my heart and my freedom to receive my ability to control the wind." Kagura whispered as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. "I still hate that you gave your fun personality by the way." Kagura tried to turn the table over on Kanna to get the focus off of herself. "Do you know how long it took for me to get used to the 'new you'? And now look, your mirror is in pieces, so what you gave up was all for nothing."
"Yeah, I know." Kanna whispered knowing what Kagura was trying to do but not calling her out on it as her eyes lowered to her mirror that she gave up so much for.
They started walking again in silence while thinking about their choices that they both really regretted and if given the choice to go back to undo with wrongness they would without a second thought. They would give anything to be able to go back to the day when they met Naraku, they would throw anything he offered at his face no matter how good the benefits sounded then turn around and run away as fast as they could. They both simultaneously sighed as they pushed the thoughts away knowing that no matter how hard they wished to go back so they could make different decisions it would never happen, they were stuck with their choices, and they had to live with them.
"We're here." Kagura whispered as she crouched down prompting Kanna to crouch down as well. "Right on the other side of these trees is where they set up camp."
"Kagura, do we really have to fight them?" Kanna asked, even if she didn't have the ability to feel fear, or any other emotion, she still has the thoughts of not wanting to die, just not the emotion for it.
"Unless you have any ideas of how to get out of this, then yes we really have to fight them." Kagura answered.
"But can't we just run?" Kanna asked.
Kagura turned around and grabbed Kanna's shoulders. "I will do anything for you to have you fun loving personality back that I love so much and my heart back. If we run before I get my heart back, I'm as good as dead by the time he realizes that we are gone."
"Can't we ask Inuyasha and Kagome for help?" Kanna asked.
Kagura thought for a while, she knew that Koga had switched sides, and that Kohaku was saved - could they be saved as well? Would Inuyasha and Kagome actually help them? God, she hoped so. It couldn't hurt to ask anyway. She let out a sigh before releasing Kanna shoulders and turning back towards the campsite that held the people that she so desperately hoped could help them.
"It can't hurt to ask for help." Kagura said before stepping through the trees into the campsite with Kanna following close behind her. She really hoped that this wasn't a mistake and that she was making the right choice going against Naraku like this and she knew that if she had her heart, it would be beating like a jackhammer right about now.
I hope you enjoyed this chapter! One more chapter to go! See you soon, bye!
