Play date

Cherry berry asked for a oneshot of Emma dealing with Snow organising a play date for her.

"Ouch!" Emma complained as Snow ran the brush through her hair. "That hurts!"

"Oh Emma don't be so fussy." Snow sighed. "I know you're grumpy about this whole thing but I don't see why, it'll be fun. Prince Anthony is a lovely boy…"

"I have my own friends, I don't like them being picked out for me." Emma grumbled.

"Don't interrupt." Snow gently told her off as she tied the ribbon in Emma's hair. "There, now don't you look sweet?" Emma pouted at her reflection in the mirror.

"I don't see why you're making such a big deal of me playing with Tiana and Naveen's son. I never dress this fancy for playing with Alex or Philip."

"King Naveen and Queen Tiana." Snow corrected her again. "And it's because Alex and Philip's parents are our friends, we don't know King Naveen and Queen Tiana as well. Letting you two play together will be a good step to breaking the ice. So, please be nice to him Em. Remember your manners and be polite."

"Well what if he's nasty to me? What if he hits me, do I still have to be polite?" Emma asked cheekily. Snow rolled her eyes.

"If he's nasty or hits you- which he won't- come and get your dad or me and we'll deal with it, alright? Now come on, time we got going. Just try and have fun Em." Emma didn't respond, she was certain she wouldn't.

By the end of the day Emma didn't want to leave Tiana and Naveen's castle.

"Just five more minutes." She begged her parents. "We're having too much fun!" All four parents laughed.

"Not today Emma, but we'll come back another time for you to play with Anthony. Say goodbye and thank you." Charming told his daughter. Begrudgingly Emma took her dad's hand and waved goodbye to Anthony and his parents.

"Goodbye. Thank you for having me." She said the rehearsed, familiar line. Anthony waved back.

"Goodbye Emma, you're welcome. Thank you for your company." Snow and Charming smiled at the polite response as they said their own goodbyes before getting into the carriage and heading off.

"So, was that so bad?" Snow asked, gently nudging Emma in the ribs. Emma giggled back.

"No, I suppose not." She admitted. Maybe her mom wasn't so bad at arranging play dates after all.
