Growing up fast

kiksters asked for a oneshot of Emma telling Charming she got her period, set as though he went through the wardrobe with her

"Dad!" Emma screamed. Charming was up in second, Emma never screamed, he knew she was in trouble. He ran to the source of her scream- the bathroom. He pounded on the door.

"Emma honey it's me, what's wrong? Let me in." A second later and a pale face, teary looking Emma opened the door.

"I think I'm hurt." She whimpered. "I went to pee and…and blood came out. I'm really scared dad." She admitted. Charming felt his heart stop for a second. He knew Emma wasn't hurt, but he hadn't expected this time to come so soon. His baby girl was growing up. How was he meant to explain this to her? This was one of the many times Charming desperately missed his beloved wife. This surely would have been her territory. But alas, Snow was not here. He was all Emma had, so he would have to deal with this the best he could.

"You're not hurt honey. Uh…come on through to the living room, I'll explain what's going on."

"But I'm still bleeding! Shouldn't we go to the hospital?" Emma asked. Charming bent down and kissed Emma's forehead.

"No honey, you don't need to go to the hospital. Honest, just trust me. Come on," Charming took her hand and led her to the couch. He sat down beside her and pulled her close to him.

"This is going to be a bit tricky to explain…have you talked a little bit about growing up in school? Like, puberty and stuff?" He asked her. Emma went very pink and nodded. "Ok, so have you been told about girls getting their periods?" Emma's eyes widened as she remembered. In the panic of the moment she hadn't realised that's what was happening.

"Um yeah…" She admitted. "Say no more, I get it." She really didn't want to speak about this kind of stuff with her dad.

"Are you sure honey? Because it's ok if you have questions, I'll answer them as best I can." Or get Google to. He thought inwardly. Emma shook her head. "Well, if you're sure then. If any do come up you know you can always ask me anything. Until then come on, we need to make a little trip to the store to get you some things."

"Do we have to?" Emma groaned. "It's embarrassing." Charming smiled at his daughter.

"Yes, we have to. You'll get used to it, I promise. You can even wait in the car while I get it if you want, but you can't wait here alone." He bargained. Emma reluctantly nodded.

"Fine, but I'm not coming in the store." Charming laughed as they both got up and he wrapped a lazy arm around Emma.

"Deal, kiddo." He promised her. He couldn't believe she'd gotten this big so fast…just as long as there were no boys in the foreseeable future. He wasn't ready for that yet.
