Altered reality

Dilan asked for a oneshot of Emma having a nightmare about Isaac's Snow and Charming. Her real parents wake her up and she freaks out more.

"You can't lock me in here! You don't want to lock me in here!" Emma tried desperately to free herself from the guards' grip, but since they'd frozen her magic using squid ink she was powerless. She couldn't tell them they were her parents, they would never believe her. The Evil Queen Snow White approached Emma boldly, knowing right now she wasn't a threat.

"Oh but I do." She said slowly. "You're bat shit crazy, but one day you might be useful to me. Once you've learned how to do as you're told. Now be quiet at get used to it."

"Please!-"

"She said be quiet!" The evil Charming snapped, slapping Emma with the back of his hand. Emma gasped, horrified. That was when she realised they had no idea who they were. She was right back to being an orphan, frightened and alone…

"Emma, wake up!" Emma felt someone shaking her. She opened her eyes to see them standing there- inches from her face. She screamed out and backed up right into the corner of the bed. She still hadn't fully awoken from her nightmare.

"Please don't hurt me!" She begged. "Please remember who you are." This wasn't the first time this nightmare had haunted Emma. This wasn't the first time her parents had woken her from it to get this reaction. At least Emma had now explained it all to them so they understood. Charming carefully took Emma into his arms as Snow stroked through her hair.

"It's alright." He said softly. "None of that was real. It was all a nightmare Emma. All a very long nightmare. You're back home in the real world, safe. We're not going to hurt you." Emma slumped her head against her dad's chest until exhaustion meant she could stay awake no more. When he was sure she was asleep, Charming carefully lay her back down and Snow pulled the covers back over her.

"I hate this." Snow admitted. "Seeing her like this- frightened of us."

"Me too." Charming told her. He pulled Snow into his arms and tenderly kissed her forehead. "But soon reality will help the dreams fade away. She'll remember how very loved she is even while unconscious." Snow turned and cast a troubled gaze over Emma.

"I hope so." She whispered, gently moving some hair from her face with his fingertips.
