Rash

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma gets bit by a tick during her time in the Enchanted Forest and hides it from Snow. (Took me a while to work out what you meant, we call the rash Lyme Disease in the UK!) Snow finds out and disciplines her. She gives her a nasty potion to get rid of it as they don't have modern medicine.

Emma yanked down her sleeve again to keep the bull's-eye like rash well covered. She knew exactly what it was, but there was no point whinging about it here, there was no antibiotics to deal with it. It was just another reason to keep pushing her forward on their journey home. But her lightning fast speed did not stop Snow spotting the red skin. She grabbed Emma's arm and yanked the sleeve back up.

"Hey!" Emma protested, pulling her arm back. But it was too late, Snow's suspicions had been confirmed.

"When did you get bit by a tick?" Snow asked sternly. "And why didn't you mention either the bite or the rash?" Emma shrugged.

"It's not important." Emma grumbled. "We can deal with it when we're home and have proper medicine." Snow sighed. One of these days Emma would realise that she couldn't sweep everything under the carpet.

"Well we don't have the luxury of modern medicine to deal with this Emma and the reality is we don't know when we will. We need to deal with this now. Mulan, Aurora, stop!" Snow called ahead of them to Emma's annoyance. "Could one of you please gather me some of the sunflowers from over there? And some of the bark from those trees. Then if someone could boil some water for me that'd be great. Emma got bit by a tick." Mulan and Aurora gave knowing looks like they understood what Snow was doing, unlike Emma.

"There is no need for this." Emma hissed.

"There is every need Emma." Snow replied sternly as Aurora and Mulan set about getting the common potion ready. They felt for Emma- it stung like a bitch. "You cannot hide things like this. It compromises everyone's safety. Yeah, today it was just a tick bite and I caught it before the Lyme Disease could fully develop, but next time it could be something more serious. I know we have issues that we need to work out, but you need to at least try and trust me Emma. Otherwise one or both of us could get seriously hurt. Am I making myself clear?" Emma was shocked by the sternness in Snow's voice, she wasn't used to how…motherly she sounded.

"Crystal." Emma grumbled, allowing Snow to examine the rash. She still wasn't completely convinced that she wasn't better off alone, but maybe she could give this trust thing a go.
