Emma goes thump in the night- part 2

A guest asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch52 "Emma goes thump in the night".

"How you feeling honey?" Snow asked, coming into Emma's room with the thermometer.

"A bit better I guess." Emma sighed, not daring to admit that she still felt like she was going to barf every second of the day. She spied the thermometer in her mom's hand and groaned. "There's no need for that." Emma complained, not wanting her mom to find out that her temperature was sky high.

"There's every need Emma." Snow told her, pressing the thermometer to her forehead without giving her a chance to complain. Snow frowned when the readout came out. "Emma this isn't good at all. I'll go get you a cold compress…"

"Really there's no need." Emma said, stumbling to get out of bed. She promptly had a dizzy turn and fell to the floor.

"Emma!" Snow said, worried. She carefully helped Emma back into the bed and quickly held the bucket under her chin since she was heaving. Sure enough, Emma hurled straight into it.

"Sorry." She mumbled. Snow set the bucket down and sighed.

"Emma, how many times? I am your mother, it is my job to look after you- especially when you're sick. Let me do my job, would you?"

"I'm just not used to people being so caring when I'm sick. Normally I get shipped off somewhere else at the slightest sniffle of a cold." Snow's heart broke for her daughter and the cruelty she'd gone through. She reached out and stroked through Emma's hair.

"Well I'm not shipping you anywhere. You are my daughter and I will take care of you, alright? Now," Snow got up from the bed "I'll be back in a minute with that cold compress." Snow would use the private time to allow herself a slight weep at what had happened to her little girl. It was never meant to be that way.
