Out of the system- part 3
LyssLovesShules33 asked for a oneshot of a part 3 to "Out of the system" where Snow becomes Emma's Foster mother. When the curse breaks she tells Charming how they met.
"I've been wondering how you got Emma back." Charming asked his wife, the party full swing in Granny's. "I was in a coma for most of the time, what was Emma like as a little girl? Have you got pictures?" He asked, not able to contain his excitement. Snow looked away, she hadn't had a chance to explain the whole situation with Emma to him yet. He didn't know that Snow had only known Emma for only a couple of months more than he had.
"Charming, I didn't raise Emma." Snow told him, trying to break the news as gently as possible. Charming's face scrunched up, not understanding. "I found her…scavenging in town. She was raised in the foster system and ran away from a bad home. I found her and arranged with her social worker to become her new Foster mother after going through some tests. I didn't know I was her biological mother."
"Scavenging?" He asked, not sure he wanted to know the answer. Snow gulped, not wanting to relive the memory.
"For food, in the dumpsters behind Granny's." She said quietly. "They had basically starved her." Charming felt he'd been punched in the gut. Emma…she was his princess. Who could do that to his princess? Snow placed her hands on Charming's chest. "I know it's hard to accept, but we can't dwell in the past. Emma's been making great progress here, and she's going to keep making progress with her dad in her life." Charming gave a sad smile. It was going to be like this for a while- bitter-sweet. For every good memory they would make with Emma, there would be a dark one to uncover.
